The Sly Fox
Foxes are beautiful creatures that love to burrow. They are solitary creatures, and like to plunder vineyards where the grapes are ripe. Foxes also enjoy grasshoppers, fruit and berries as a part of their diet.
I had a brief encounter with a fox when I was a child, and the memories of that day are still pretty vivid. I remember the "feeling" of the event more than I do the actual details of my surroundings, but I still remember the adrenaline rush that set my feet to running and caused the beating of my heart to do double time!
I'll share more about that later, but for now; let's read more about the life of the red fox.

The Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) is a small canid native to much of North America and Eurasia, as well as northern Africa. In Ireland and the UK, where there are no longer any other native wild canids, it is referred to simply as "the fox". It was introduced into Australia in the 19th century. As its name suggests, its fur is predominantly reddish-brown, but there is a naturally occurring grey morph known as the ?silver? fox; a strain of domesticated silver fox has been produced from these animals by systematic domestication.

- How about The Adventures of Reddy Fox by Thornton Burgess. I mention it in www.squidoo.com/woodlands. Last summer I saw a fox walk across the field in front of my house in Vermont. It went right by me as I sat silently watching it from my porch. We often see fox prints in the snow in winter.
