Converting between a Spot Light and an Area Light

A diffuser lens enables the Nomad to either be an area light or a spotlight.

Attaching the diffuser lens to the light head converts it into a 120 degree area light (AKA flood light or scene light).

Detaching the diffuser lens converts it into an 8 degree spotlight.

Green Technology

The Nomad runs on a Li-ion rechargeable battery system. This is a HUGE deal as it need not be powered by a generator meaning that no gasoline is needed to keep it running. In addition to using around 0.6 gallons of gasoline/hour (per generator), generators also cause noise and air pollution.

The Nomad's internal rechargeable Li-ion battery system is good for 500 charge cycles....that saves a lot of gasoline, reduces a lot of noise and saves a fair amount of

Portability

Nomad in closed positionThe Nomad can fold / stow into a 17 lb, 33" poster tube that can easily be transported from one place to the next. A lens cover protects the light head. A shoulder strap is included.

The Nomad is able to used as a tripod light (telescopes up to 8 ft), bazooka light or backpack light.

Light head tilts and rotates

The light head of the Nomad is capable of rotating 340 degrees and is able to tilt up and down as well. This allows the light to be aimed where needed without having to move the Nomad..

Battery Charge Indicator

battery indicatorAn indicator at the base of the Nomad tells the remaining charge of the battery. Green is fully charged, yellow if medium charged an red means the battery is low and should be recharged soon.

The Nomad offers 3 intensities (low, medium and high). Battery life on high power (3,600 lumen) is 2.5 hours and 9 hours on low power (1,200 lumen).

Leveling Legs

leveling legsThese are basically leg extensions that allow the light to be placed on an incline, decline, or uneven surface. These keep the light sturdy on uneven terrain and are also called "Rocky Mountain Legs" in the film industry.

For extra security, a sandbag or other weight can be attached via a D-ring at the base. This is helpful in high wind conditions.

Who Uses the Nomad?

There are lots of applications where the Nomad would prove extremely useful:
Scene lighting (everything from an accident scene to lighting an outdoor event)
Photography
Film & Video
Industrial Safety (everything from lighting up a confined space to general perimeter lighting)
Crime Scene / Forensic Lab personnel
Fire-Rescue-EMS
Arson / Fire investigators
Law Enforcement
SWAT & Special Operations
Military

How Does the Nomad do in the Dark?

LIke say a dark hotel room

We were in Vegas for a trade show and shot a quick demo of the Nomad. All lights in the room were turned off to simulate blackout / power failure conditions.

Forensic models

Changing the LED colors can convert the Nomad into a forensic alternate light source (ALS). 470 nm (blue light) and 532 nm (green light) models are available.

Blue light is used to find blood spatter, gun shot residue and general crime search (hairs, fibers and other trace evidence).

Green light is used to search for fingerprints (latent prints). This is typically done via the use of fluorescent dyes or powders.

Awesome lights! I will have to start saving; my wife and I take the 5 kids camping and setting up a large tent in the backwoods without a good light is.....frustrating to say the least.

I found you through the coverage of the Shot Show VIA ITS Tactical.

Thanks so much! It's a really great light and it's now 4,000 lumen. Thanks so much for pointing out the ITS Tactical site and their SHOT Show coverage. They have tons of great booth pictures and did an amazing job covering the SHOT Show.
