A Little History of Fox

Back in 1974 Geoff Fox, a Ph. D. professor of physics at the University of Santa Clara, struck out and started a small company in Campbell, CA manufacturing called Moto-X. The goal was focused on manufacturing high-performance components for motocross racers. In 1977 Moto-X got it's chance to prove itself among the rival Japanese factory teams by pulling fifth, sixth and seventh places in the AMA 125cc National Championship series.

During the same year, Fox also debuted custom handmade outfits for the team that quickly caught the attention of racing fans. This turn of events actually caught Fox off guard with the response and knew he was onto something big.

Within two years, Moto-X Fox was manufacturing high-performance and engine components for racers looking for an on-track advantage. In the same year Fox had debuted custom, handmade outfits for the racing team that quickly caught the eye of racing fans. Fox was caught by surprise with the fans' response. He knew then that they were on to something.

A huge victory came in 1980 with Fox Racing rider Mark Barnett winning the company's first National Championship, and two years later, Brad Lackey won Racing's (and the United States') first World Motocross Championship. The following two-plus decades, Fox Racing-sponsored riders have won over 30 National Motocross and Supercross Championships. In fact during the summer of 2002, Fox Racing riders Ricky "RC" Carmichael (an eight-time AMA Champion) and James Stewart (a 16 year-old rookie) completey re-wrote the American motocross record books by dominating the National Championship circuits. Wearing his signature orange Fox gear, RC won 24 out of 24 motos, launching him in the sport's first ever "perfect season."

Over the last three decades, Fox Racing has become an international leader in the sportswear apparel industry displaying its famous Fox Head logo seen around the world. Though Fox Racing offers its complete line of motocross pants, gloves, helmets, jerseys, and boots through independent dealers worldwide, the company also offers a full line of sportswear, including shorts, T-shirts, hoodies, hats, jeans, sweatshirts, sunglasses and jackets to the public through finer sportswear retailers worldwide. Fox Racing has strived to keep Geoff Fox's original goal of making the best motocross products money can buy.
