Meet Tyson and Boogie

Record Store Mascots or is it "Mas-Cats"??

Tyson and Boogie Currently reside at the indie record store Fox Music. They are the "Record Store Mascots or "Mas-Cats""?? Tyson the "Tortoise Shell" is the record store greeter, some time during your visit to Fox Music you will most likely chat with Tyson. She Loves all the attention she can get and will even allow you to pick her up and,.... will tolerate youngins' to a degree. Tyson is a "Grade A Ham" all the way!!

Boogie the "Tuxedo Cat" on the other hand will not sit still long enough for pictures very often. Boogie is way to curious as to what you are doing, but wants nothing to do with it once he figures it out. Boogie does not like to be picked up and is very selective with who he chats with, but once he gets goin',oh boy! and when you return he will shine around and let you in on whats been happening. If Boogie hears the sound of children even on a Record he disappears into one of his Cat Hide-Outs until the coast is clear.

Vinyl Record Care and Maintenance

Protect Your Valuable Vinyl Phonograph Records

www.foxmusiccompany.comVinyl Record Care and Maintenance
Cleanliness is absolutely mandatory if the optimum sound capability of the vinyl record is to be realized. A clean record will not only sound better, but last longer. It has long been proven that repeated playing of dirty phonograph records can cause permanent damage to the vinyl. Preservation of your valuable or irreplaceable records requires careful cleaning. Not to mention that stylus wear is greatly accelerated by playing dirty records, and with high price of cartridges these days, playing dirty records can lead to significant and unneeded expense.

The Vinyl Record

The Discwasher's D4+ Vinyl Cleaning System

Vinyl Record Care

A favorite among collectors for many years. Use the brush dry or wet with the included 1.25 oz. fluid. The D4+ Record Care System is the result of intensive scientific research on safe record cleaning. The D4+ System is a cleaning system unlike other products, which reduce record dynamics and fidelity. The more active, yet safe, D4+ fluid is actually able to lift and suspend contaminants in solution on the record surface so the D4 pad can easily and efficiently remove debris. Containing less residue than tap water, D4+ fluid will clean without depositing new residues on the record surface; it will not encourage any biological growth as do "constantly damp" cleaning methods. For longer life, Discwasher recommends that records be lightly cleaned each time before playing. New records should also be cleaned before their first play. Although presumed clean, many new recordings still have mold release compounds in their grooves, thus requiring cleaning.

Nitty Gritty Record Cleaning Systems

Feel the Groove

Nitty_Gritty_Record_Cleaning_SystemClean vinyl is not only better-sounding vinyl, it is longer-lasting vinyl as well. All kinds of contaminants can end up in the grooves that will not only impede playback but may also cause long-term damage even if you don't play your records. Until now, no available record cleaning system was accepted by professionals and enthusiasts alike as producing the desired result -- clean records. No single system was able to rid a record's surface of film, grease, residue, and dust while it eliminated static electricity and left a purified vinyl record. Records cleaned on a Nitty Gritty system reproduce all the music stored in their grooves without the interference and masking of record pollutants. The Improvement in sound that a Nitty Gritty cleaning makes is so dramatic that the benefit of upgrading one component of a hi-fi system is less significant in comparison. the Nitty Gritty record cleaning system has established itself as an essential component in every hi-fi system.

Rock Concert Posters

A Visual History of Rock

The concert poster is a great visual history of rock n' roll that centers on the posters which were created to advertise the musicians and concert venues. With over six decades of concert posters available, these event posters have become a wildly popular collectible that has taken on a life of their own, sometimes outshining the rock bands they were created to promote. The popular art of concert posters allow collectors to collect by music genre, by musician, by poster artist and even by venue or promoter. Concert promoters also created handbill versions of many of their posters and used them as sidewalk handouts and dashboard fliers to promote upcoming shows. Many of these handbills were double-sided, with poster art on one side and a calendar of upcoming shows on the other. These handbills represent an important element of rock concert history because they were hands on marketing tools that united promoter and concert fan. Concert poster are not only avidly collected today but have spawned collectors clubs, groups and annual conventions that celebrate the concert poster such such as Flatstock or The Rock Poster Society (TRPS).

Collecting Movie Posters

Over the time of motion picture history the movie poster has been printed in a number of different sizes and shapes. The larger the movie release, the more poster sizes were produced by the studio. At dawn of the 20th century when motion pictures were just beginning to make an impact on society, the most common format for movie posters was the one sheet. These first posters or one sheets were a common size of 27" x 41" which was the largest sheet (or one sheet) that would fit in lithographers press bed. This was also a common size used for theater posters prior to motion pictures. From the One Sheet size originated the terms used to denote the other larger size .
