Fracking Causes Earthquakes
Ranked #6,839 in Culture & Society, #142,070 overall
Fracking means that the bedrock of our land is being broken and damaged.
I didn't realize how devastating the process of fracking is until I watched Josh Fox's documentary movie, Gasland. I was shocked to the core of my being. This beautiful earth that we've been born on, that we've lived on all our lives, is being systematically destroyed by companies in search of natural gas. Haliburton is one of them. You know who they are. They're destroying the heartland of the USA!
The two earthquakes on August 23, 2011 were at almost the same time, almost the same latitude, and nearly the same intensity. The one on the Colorado - New Mexico border was 5.3 on the Richter scale, and the other one, in Virginia near Washington DC, was 5.8.
Were these naturally caused earthquakes? It seems hard to believe they could be. They're both in areas where earthquakes are infrequent. The area from Colorado to Virginia is being seriously fracked. If you've watched Battlestar Galactica you can appreciate that fracked means fracked. It also means the earth is being drilled into, broken, damaged, poisoned, and fractured in horrible ways.

This movie blew me away. It showed me that people are being poisoned by companies doing natural gas drilling. People are already seriously dying because of this fracking.
The drills not only break apart the rocks our country is built on, they put poisons in there. People are getting these poisons in their drinking water. One day they have good water, and the next their water goes brown. They are not warned or adequately compensated. They continue to live in houses with unusable water.
The water is so contaminated it can be set on fire as it comes out of the kitchen water faucet. This documentary shows it all.
Fracking is destroying the environment. Please be aware that this is most likely the worst industry-caused environmental disaster ever, worse than even the Gulf oil spill.
