Barack Obama and Frank Marshall Davis
Some call it controversy. Some call the controversy foolishness.
Let's be up front about this: Frank Marshall Davis is getting an increasing amount of attention because of someone he met way back in the 1970s - Barack Obama. Barack Obama talked with Frank Marshall Davis a few times, when Obama was between the ages of ten and eighteen years old. The two both lived in Hawaii at the time, and their paths crossed. They talked about poetry and about careers. Some say that means that Frank Marshall Davis converted Barack Obama into full red blooded Communism.
Sigh.
Read a rational analysis of this supposed controversy.

Cliff Kincaid is ratcheting up his disinformation campaign. Now he is claiming, without a shred of evidence, that Davis was a Stalinist and a lifelong member of the Communist Party, and that Davis decided to remain a member despite the Nazi-Soviet non-aggression pact of 1939. This new claim goes far beyond the Davis-Obama disinformation on the A.I.M. website. All available evidence indicates that Davis actually rejected communism in the 1930s. The A.I.M. website itself notes evidence that Davis joined the Party during WWII, although Davis "continued to publish in CPUSA-supported publications after the 1939 Hitler-Stalin non-aggression pact."
