Windows Service Centre Fraud Alert
Ranked #5,670 in Computers & Electronics, #108,125 overall
DONT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT
They ring you up, get access to your computer and get your password, credit card details and they track any other information you type into your computer!
Have you been contacted?
I would love to hear from ANYONE who has been contacted so together, we can STOP them!
This is a scam fraud alert I am not going to let go!
This is what happened to me:
First you notice that your computer is not running right
They start by putting malware on your computer
I have had a few warnings on my computer and I noticed that it was not running right.
This is because I have DLL files (malware) on my computer!
It's a scam. Malware on your computer needs to be cleaned, but don't trust the phone calls.
Then You Receive a Phone Call
They get your phone number and ring you
I should have known. My gut instinct told me to hang up the phone as soon as there was a delay in the line, but I said "Hello" the second time.
They then told me they are from the windows service centre.
Any delay in the phone line 9 times out of 10 is either a sales person, or fraud. A woman rings and says my computer is not running right, have I noticed any problems lately?
They told me to go and check in this particular file on my computer, that I shouldn't click on them, because they are all corrupt.
These are the DLL files THEY put on your computer before they ring you.
If you are asking "does windows service centre call you?" I found out after a while that NO, they don't. They never contact you this way.
Fear kicks in
Wow, 1800 corrupt files!
But it's ok, he is going to help me!
He reassures me that he can help
I just need to click OK, that I accept him to access my computer and he can help me.
He gave me a number to type in (which I did) then click ok.
If you go to this website, I will help you
WARNING WARNING
DONT DO IT
This is the part where they now have complete access to your computer
If you go on to internet banking, paypal, e-mail, ebay... you name it, they can follow your every move.
Then they tell you that you need to extend your warranty
They tell you that you need extended warranty for windows
So how long would you like your extended warranty for, 1, 2, 5 years?
Thankfully, I stopped him right there! I never give cc details over the phone, not to ANYBODY and neither should you!
So what did I do?
I hung up and shut down my computer
I panicked and shut down my computer straight away.
The next day rang the computer shop and verified that it was a scam.
$99 later, my computer is now being fixed and all is good again.
BUT
There are so many people that have been caught!
They are everywhere and worst of all, they are getting away with it!
No-one is doing anything about it, so here I am to try to catch them.
What you should do if you have been scammed
You need to do a few things if you have been scammed
2/ You need to take it in to a computer professional and get it cleaned
3/ You need to go to credit card company and put in a complaint to get your money back
4/ After your computer is clean, you need to change ALL YOUR PASSWORDS ON ALL YOUR ACCOUNTS
5/ NEVER TRUST ANYONE LIKE THAT AGAIN
Please let me know if you have been scammed
I would like to hear from anybody who has been scammed by these people.
If we can get together, the police are more likely to chase them!
Let me know your story here!
Please include all details that might be helpful.

- Got a call from the "windows service centre". The Indian speaking mans name was Brett. I thought that was an unusual name for an Indian person. He had a heavy accent.Same old line...bad things will happen to my computer if they dont fix it immediately. When he asked me to access the web, which might let him into my computer, I stopped...Googled windows service centre and looked at all the bad stuff about them. I then accused him of being a scammer, but he was very insistent that he was legitimate. But I wasn't taking any chances, so I told him that my computer can blow up...but he's not going to help me fix it. He said that it would be a big mistake. " You're computer will crash very bad, we are blacklisting your computer, it will crash badly soon" he kept telling me.THEY ARE PERSISTENT TO THE POINT I NEARLY HAD A CHANGE OF HEART....BUT BE FIRM. THEY ARE THE BAD THING FOR YOUR COMPUTER.

- I got a call on Nov 1, not knowing this was a scam I fell for their talk. They charge me $380.00 which I paid for through Paypal. Richard was the guy who called me, he had me go to a file that had a bunch of error signs. Mind you I had been having trouble with getting access to Internet Explorer through e-mail links. I would get a error message that asked me if I wanted to send a notice of the error to Microsoft. This problem had been going on for about a month and I had been toying with the idea of getting someone to help me prior to Richard's phone call. So when I got the call it seemed laget, Richard even had me go to their web site that looked very official. Anyway, to make a long story short I got nervious when second day the suppose Tech guy left my second computer hung up all night!! I looked on the Internet for someone to help me and contacted Omnitech Support, they were very helpful but they charged me $899.97 for 16 months and three computers support. I did get my $380.00 back via Paypal which I am very grateful for all their help and support. There were many phone calls between me and Richard at WindowsServicecentre which I did not cover here. Even after I had gotten Paypal to refund my money Richard was calling me to confirm that he was here to help me get my money back, he did not seem to understand that I had already done that through Paypal. I learned my lesson to never respond to a Cold Call!

You can contact me if you would like to help me catch them!
Do you have any ideas on how we can stop them?
If you have any tips on how we can track them down, please help!
I need all the help I can get so we can stop them. I have been informed to go to the federal police, but they are not guaranteeing to do anything unless we have a few people together.
I am dedicated to find as many people I can to stop this, are ther any other ideas?
Thanks for your help.

- Every time those idiots call me (they call my cell) they seem perplexed that I'm not in front of my computer. So far they've called me when I was doing a home inspection on my condo, when I was in the Arby's drive thru, and when I was in a furniture store.
We've taken to playing games with them. I attempted to get their complete contact information but they hung up on me when I asked for an address. One guy didn't want to hang up so I refused to hang up my phone and just let it sit there. Next I'm going to pretend to be an idiot PC user and "get their help" and waste as much of their time as possible.

- i also just got a call from the Guy with the indian Accent. Was very suspicious of him from the word go. (Anyone who steps back and thinks logically for one second will quickly realise, that even Microsoft could not afford to call everybody that has a problem with their PC!)
Anyway as with you guys he claimed i had problems with my pc. I asked him which one? (i have more than one).....long pause. He said i should start the one i normally use (yeah right!). I persisted saying, that if he indeed recieved a message (automated or otherwise) identifying a problem on a specific computer then this message must contain detailed information about which computer....Silence.
At this point i asked him the name of the company he was working for - "Windows Service Center".
"Aahhhh yes the one in Bangalore (i faked)"
"No, we are in Zürich"
"Oh great then we can speak German" i said to him (in German)"
.....Silence
i repeated
"wir können mit einander deutsch sprechen"
.....no response.
I reverted into English
"we can speak deutsch"
"What is deutsch?"
"We can speak German"
"Oh i am very sorry we are not allowed to speak German"
"What? Youre claiming to be in Zürich, Switzerland, but you dont speak German?"
"i speak German, but we are not allowed to use German for calls".
(Find me someone who speaks German but doest know what "deutsch" is).
I told him not to be ridiculous and that the whole set-up was so unprofessional that i couldnt believe him even if i wanted too.
In the background i could hear other indian voices shouting instructions to their victims and also street noises that didnt sound like Zürich at all !!!!
Then i hung up!

- This indian accent guy has been phoning me many times but luckily i haven't really done what they instructed me to do ....i am not very familiar with computers so i always ask my bf first if this is legit. many times he said its a scam and Microsoft will never ever phone you and just this morning another guy with the same accent said he is from Windows Service Center and once again my bf said its a scam but i wasn't so convinced so i tried to search online about it and now that i saw that there's a lot of victim of this scam finally i'm convinced. the first call actually i almost fall unto their trap i actually went to my computer and follow his instructions but when i need to confirm i stopped i said i need to talk to my bf first this guy said that i need to call him back and that his name is Vijay. this morning was indian accent but the funny part is that he said his name is Daniel Jones and that he is calling from Ontario,Toronto and his call back number is 1905-581-1797. I'm really hoping that this scam should stop.
