Which ab exercises are effective? Any exercise that targets the abs would seem is if they were effective, really. However, some abdominal exercises strain your neck and back which leads to injury or quitting. So, some can be ineffective and even harmful.

1. Exercise Ball Abdominal Exercise - Using an exercise ball is a great way to get your abs in shape. Not only does the ball support your back and neck, but crunches are so much easier to do. Just lay against the ball and do your crunches.

2. Reverse Crunches - These are a lot easier on your body than regular crunches. Just lay on your back with your legs up and pointed to a 90 degree angle. Pull your knees to your chest, release your legs and repeat as many times as you feel comfortable doing.

3. Tense Your Tummy - This is something you can do anywhere at anytime. In the shower, while cooking or cleaning, grocery shopping or in the pool. Simply take a breath and hold your belly muscles real tight, holding the breath for a few seconds. Release your breath and loosen your belly muscles. Repeat as many times as you feel comfortable doing.

Now, besides simply doing ab workouts, be sure to incorporate general exercising methods that help with overall muscle toning. Some great ways to get a great workout easily include swimming, jogging, hiking and bike riding.
