Their are a few downloadable beat making tools that are free. But they all have a catch. They will let you create simple beats, but you cannot save any of the without paying for the full versions of the software. One way you can get around this is to get a program that rips internet radio and just record the audio signal coming out of the speakers. There are 2 problems with this. One is that it is illegal. The other, and for most out there the one you would actually be concerned with (shame on you) is that you will not get a top quality sound recording. A well known fact within audio techies is that every time a signal has to be reprocessed or changes median it degrades. Why, because you are converting the signal back to analog, and then back to digital. I doubt you are using high end gear for this either, since if you were you wouldn't be using these software's anyways.
here is the best one that I have found. They have a demo version, but it also comes with tons of tutorials.

Beat Making Software 

One thing that is very important to remember is that beat making software will not make or break you as a producer. A chisel in the hands of a normal person is nothing more than a crude working too. A chisel in the hands of Leonardo Davinci is another story. The point is, while beat making software is your equivalent of a chisel, it is very important that you spend enough time practicing and learning how to use that chisel (beat making software) to it's fullest potential. Only then will you have the complete package. Learn everything you can. Buy music theory books, buy technical books, participate in forums, learn tips and tricks. The difference between the kid in his basement and the top producer in the world is only about 5%. Anyone can produce a song start to finish. Producing a song and tweaking it .5% here and .2% there until it is absolute perfection is what makes the difference. Learn everything you can and DO NOT CUT CORNERS.
