Size I crochet hook

Gauge: 4 rows dc=2 7/8" (just under 3 inches)

Pattern notes: Dc dec = yo, insert hook in next dc, yo and pull yarn through 2 loops, yo, insert hook in next dc, yo and pull through 2 loops, yo and pull through all 3 remaining loops on hook
Dc inc = work 2 dc into 1 dc

Hat

Rnd 1: Ch 4, join with slip stitch in first ch to form ring, ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join w sl st in top of beg ch 3 (12 dc).

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same dc, 2 dc in next dc and in each dc around, join as before (24 dc).

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, * dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * around, join as before (32 dc).

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, * dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * around, dc in each of last 2 dc, join as before ( 42 dc).

Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in each dc, working 5 dc inc evenly spaced around, join as before (47 dc).

Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join as before (47 dc).

Rnd 7: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 1 dc dec in round, join as before (46 dc).

Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in same dc as ch 1, sc in each dc around, join w sl st in 1st sc, fasten off (46 sc).
