Free Feng Shui Tips
One of my friends requested that I put up a lens with some free feng shui tips on it - so here it is. Free feng shui tips and bits for all!
Feng Shui Tip #1
Feng shui tip #1: Feng shui is about balancing the flow of chi in your life, so if it doesn't feel balanced, it probably isn't. Now that cryptic statement describes both the philosophy behind feng shui - balance - and also how do address the lack of balance. If you come home every day, feeling tired, stressed out or generally down, then it's probably something in either your home or working environments that is out of balance. Sometimes it's very simply that things are hectic around you, at other times, something may be hindering the flow of chi in your environments and it needs to be addressed. Take an inventory of what you have in your home or workplace - anything old, anything overly sentimental or anything that seems stagnant or cluttered may be causing this feeling.
Feng Shui Tip #2
Free feng shui tip #2: Use bamboo flutes properly. I've written elsewhere about this before, but people seem to keep on forgetting - bamboo flutes are simply a wood element item, they are not a 'miracle cure' for freeing up chi in a room, they do not solve the problem of exposed beams, and I hate to say it, but they certainly do not guarantee the continual arrival of good news.
Free feng shui tip #3: Use the bagua properly. There are two schools of thought about the bagua - one says that it should be aligned according to how you enter a space (home, office or otherwise), with the career aspect facing towards you as you walk into a space. Others say that you should use the traditional compass bearings from the Compass school of feng shui. I say that it generally doesn't matter, but if you pick one approach you should stick to it.
Feng Shui Tip #4
Free feng shui tip #4: Everything is connected. The feng shui of your house is reflected in the feng shui in your bedroom. The feng shui of your workplace is reflected in the feng shui of your work desk. Each part of a room or environment is a microcosm of something else, and should be treated as such. If you have used a bagua to arrange your house, apply feng shui principles to your bedroom too.
Free feng shui tip #5: Clutter is bad feng shui. Without sounding too much like an organization maniac, GET RID OF ALL YOUR CLUTTER!!! Piles of books, magazines, clothes and general 'stuff' should not be found lying around your house. It should be neatly put into a closet or a cabinet. Clutter is full of stagnant chi, and no matter how many feng shui cures you use in your home, having clutter around will negate all their effects (this is one of the more important free feng shui tips).
Free feng shui tip #6: Prevent before curing. Some feng shui books will tell you to put crystals and green plants everywhere - what nonsense. There is a fine balance between balancing your environment and filling it with something else - feng shui cures. Feng shui is really a two-step art form, and practitioners always seek to prevent the bad flow of chi first before resorting to cures. If you can move furniture, clear your desk, organize your closet or do anything with what you have first - do that. Don't rush out and madly start collecting all sorts of feng shui cures and the sorts to clutter up your life again (the most important of the free feng shui tips).
