Which Knitting Needle to use?
Most patterns will list the size of the needles used for the project and this just leaves the knitting needle material to pick.
There are many knitters out there who swear by the traditional wood or bamboo needles, these have the advantage of their warmth to the touch.Wood an d bamboo also have a little bit of 'grab' which is easier when working with slick yarn. The 'grab' effect is also useful for beginners to stop stitches from sliding off the needle.
Metal and plastic needles are very smooth, which can make for very quick knitting in more experienced hands. While all needles make a clicking sound it is certainly more noticeable with harder metal and plastic needles.
After a while you will start to find which needles you prefer.
