How to Become a Zazzle Associate
You Must Join Zazzle's Program And Use Their Affiliate Codes

- Go to Zazzle.com and "Sign In" at the top.
- Click "I am new to Zazzle" and go through the registration process.
- Once you have an account, log into Zazzle.
- Search Zazzle for designs using: (a) the search box at the top of any Zazzle page, (b) Zazzle Categories and tags, or (c) a Google Image Search restricted to site:www.zazzle.com
Once you are viewing a product with a design you like, click "Link" below the product picture. Note there are also special buttons to help you build referral links for blogs and social media services (click the + sign for other services).
- Customize how the design will display on your web page. Choose "Design" instead of "Product" view if you just want the graphic, but note you should also credit the artist with a link back to make it clear where it comes from:

- Copy the codes. Grab the html code (the second box) if you're happy with Zazzle's default codes, which create an image and a artist's credit (linked) caption under it. Paste it wherever you want the image to appear!
- OR, if you want to fine-tune the layout, caption or size of your Zazzle graphic, align the images using HTML, or use my HTML Zazzle templates, which simply require you to plug in the REFERRAL LINK to the product page (the first box above), and the Image URL (the third box).
DOS AND DON'TS OF ZAZZLE REFERRALS
Make Sure You Read This!
DO:Include the referral link.
Use the codes Zazzle provides to make the referral link.DON'T:Download the image or upload the image anywhere else (like, say, a Text with BIG PICTURE module). This is a rare case where hotlinking is allowed, and in fact, absolutely required.
Don't link the image to anything other than its Zazzle product page.
Don't use the image as a Squidoo Lens Logo.
Zazzle Images Make a Statement

You should also...
(Not required by Zazzle, but it's only courteous...)
- Include an artist's credit.
- Use a Call to Action like "Buy this Poster on Zazzle" or "Get This on Zazzle." If a sales pitch is too abrasive for your lens, at least include a "by so-and-so on Zazzle" caption that makes it clear the item is for sale.
- Make sure your referral code is there! (It is listed on your ASSOCIATES tab). At the end of each Zazzle referral image or link, there should be a code starting with "rf=" followed by some numbers.
- TIP: memorize the first 3 numbers of your referral code so you can easily check for it!
- RATE THE ZAZZLE DESIGN! Give your Zazzler a boost.
- For SEO purposes, you may wish to add or tweak the image's alt-name. (See my SEO tutorial)

Copyright and Courtesy

Pro Zazzler Dogplay explained:
“An associate is under no obligation to ask permission to list a product using the [Zazzle] links that are provided for that purpose. [...] What is not allowed is copying the image instead of linking to it. Any image used must be the image stored on the Zazzle web site. This gives the designer and Zazzle a way to remove the image if there is a need.
Designers cannot both have their product public AND prevent associates from using them. If a designer does not want an associate to promote their product they can remove it from public display and promote it by direct link only."
So permission is granted, as long as you follow Zazzle's rules and make it a referral link. The artist retains the copyright and retains control over her work.
Note that the artist may choose to take the image down. Leave a friendly note saying you liked the design so much you've referred it on your own site, and they probably won't!

Zazzle Artists: How Do You Want Us Using Your Pictures?
Let's pause and check in
That's all very well, but hang on. Forget what Zazzle wants: it wants money, and it doesn't care how Zazzle designs are promoted as long as you drive sales. So its rules allow this.
But then there are the artists. They've set their designs public so that associates can promote their products. How do they feel about being tapped as a source of free graphics?
TIP: Graphics = Clickouts
I have learned from using Creative Commons and other free web graphics that PEOPLE CLICK ON GRAPHICS, even when they're just decorative!
And on Squidoo,
Clickouts = Lensrank Boost!
So unless you're running into a character count limit, ALWAYS link your graphic.
Also, intriguing but small images often attract people wanting to see more detail.
What About Squidoo's Built-In Zazzle Module?
Can I Use my Referral Link with Squidoo's Zazzle Module?
However, Squidoo's built-in Zazzle module does NOT have a place for your referral code. If you're an artist, you'll get the sales commission, but you won't get the referral bonus. It's a little more trouble, but you'll probably want to hand-code a Zazzle gallery to get the referral. See my templates below!
Zazzle Referral Templates
Page two of this primer on Using Zazzle Graphics is the bee's knees. I've got templates that make:- An attractive Zazzle design gallery
- Graphics side-by-side with paragraphs
- Zazzle graphics in Black Boxes
- Resized Zazzle Graphics
- Or invent your own layout
Google/Zazzle Shortcut
Google finds things using its own algorithm, so it may find things Zazzle's own search doesn't (or vice versa).
Try this:
1. Go to images.google.com
2. Search for site:zazzle.com you are here
3. Go to Zazzle.com
4. Search for you are here
See what I mean? :)

If you found this Zazzle tutorial useful, please pass it on!
Also, if you find any of my Zazzle HTML templates don't work, PLEASE tell me! I tested them all to start with, but in the course of color-coding and writing out all the templates, I could have lost a bracket or something.

- This looks doable. I have to give this more time. I like advertising products that will add more color and uniqueness to my lens.
