If you would like to have your own personal website on the internet, you may want to experiment with free website hosting.

Free website hosting is not recommended for any type of business website. If you are planning on putting up an information website, you could use free web hosting, but paid hosting account allows you to monetize your website via Google AdSense, paid advertising, or affiliate programs. Paid accounts also offer a lot more disk space and bandwidth.

Free Hosting Advantages and Disadvantages

Free Web Hosting Advantages

  1. Well... it's free
  2. Many free web hosts have templates and images that you can use to create the design of your website
  3. Many also provide an easy website builder so you don't have to learn HTML
  4. Many hosts include easy to use add-ons such as guestbook, counters, etc.
  5. Generally, they target novices, so the tools are easy to use, and the instructions are easy to understand.

Free Hosting Disadvantages

  1. Free web hosts offer very little disk space and a limited amount of bandwidth.
  2. You may be required to include their ads on your website. These vary from simple banners to annoying popups.
  3. Generally you don't have access to MySQL, CGI, Perl, and many other advanced features.
  4. You site may be delete without warning if they discontinue the free service, or if your site is considered inactive.
  5. You won't get the 99% uptime guarantee and customer support that is available from most paid hosts.

    that is true, free hosting services some times sucks, it is harder to find a good one, lack or limitation of some services, downtimes, and the most irritating is you may not find your website one morning which is very frustrating, but it is a most to use free host before you upgrade to paid one, how can you know how good or bad a service without giving it a shot?

    The Hostingforfree.us host provides me very, very good service, at no cost! The control panel is user friendly, and my free website never goes down. The support is also excellent. You can confidently host your domain name with hostingforfree.us! I host my .info domain name on it.

    nice lens..thanks for putting this up here..when i first started looking for a good free host..it took me a couple frustrating attempts to find good ones..i use freehostia and bravenet now
