Keeping records do this from the very start Have two source books one for keeping a record of pictures, documents, information, stories, etc.you received, date received and where or from whom the information came. And one for a written record of all the sources you have searched to include positive and negative results.
Below you will find sites I have used in my genealogy search. By posting to these free message boards I received a lot of clues that lead me to receiving more documents, old family pictures and more information on past family and their travels. Also others on these message boards were responsible for helping me find descendants of my fathers siblings as my fathers six brothers and sister were all adopted out young when their mother died and were in many other states father never knew where most were. Also there are many information links on genealogy lessons these have great suggestions and are good reminder and a link to a free create a family tree software.

- Is there any elders of the other parents that you can ask a questions I had a hard time with hebby side he was born in WV and moved to MI whaen a small boy he had one aunt left in WV and she gave me enough to start and posting in rootsweb and family search really got me a lot of info to work with also.
