- Five free ways for online promotion
You can spend a lot of money on Internet marketing and be left with nothing, if you make the wrong choices. Another strategy is to invest no money and go for free ways. Even when you're not successful, you've only lost a few minutes of your time.
1. A Blog
The simplest way to promote a product or service online is to build a blog around it. There are a number of free blogging services, like Blogger, or WordPress.com. It doesn't really matter which one you choose, but I recommend Blogger simply because of the simplicity and leniency of terms.
2. Link, link, link
Next, you need to make your blog known. That happens by spreading links to it around the World Wide. Be wary of spamming, as its simply not tolerated. You'll lose accounts and cause trouble without really benefiting at all. Places you can promote your link on are forum signatures (choose related forums), email signatures, and you profile on FaceBook, MySpace etc.
3. Social Marketing
Join social bookmarking services, like Digg, Technorati and StumbleUpon. Promote your blog, but also promote other people's sites (like your friends'). When you have helped them, they are likely to help you. Also try the social networking sites like myLot and Flixya.
4. Link and Traffic Exchanges
Again, you must be careful. Some of these are scam, and some can get you banned from Google AdSense. These two are programs that I recommend and have had good experiences with. TNX.net allows you to publish links on your site for credits. You can then use the credits for links or sell them and earn some cash. DP Co-Op Network works similarly, but without a credit system.
5. Search Engine Optimization
It really doesn't take an expert to rank well in search engines. You just have to pick a good niche and do some work. Read the SEO basics to get you started. Search engines are a good source of targeted traffic, since they are really looking for something related when they find your site.
