Free Keyword Research

One of the most used keyword research tools on the entire Internet is the Overture Keyword Tool. The tool is now maintained by Yahoo search marketing (formely Overture).
The tool is very easy to use. You just type in a keyword or keyword phrase and it will present you with the 100 most popular searched related to that keyword or keyword phrase.

UPDATE: Sadly the Overture Tool is no longer being updated. This means that any search counts you get from the tool are not valid as they show the numbers back from January 2007!
You can still use the tool to compare different niches, just don't put too much into the number of counts.
