If you are looking to homeschool preschool your child from home or if you just want them to get a jump-start on their education, using free preschool worksheets is a wise choice.

As you can tell by the name "free preschool worksheets" are worksheets that you can find for free. On my website Preparing Your Child for Preschool and Kindergarten Too, you'll find a large selection of free printable preschool worksheets.

This lens will link you up to those worksheets, as well as cover some of the basic information on each section's benefits.

The Benefits of Using Free Printable Worksheets

If you are the parent of a preschooler, you may wonder what the benefits are of utilizing free preschool worksheets with your child. So what are those benefits?

Jump Start on Learning

Some children don't starting really learning or using worksheets until they enter pre-k or kindergarten. By doing worksheets at home with your child, you help them achieve a helpful jump-start on their learning.

Quality Time Together

Since your child is just a preschool-aged child, they need help with their learning. That is part of the fun of parenting! With printable worksheets, you and your child can work side-by-side together all the while having a fun, yet educational time.

FREE = Affordable

While free preschool worksheets are free, they do cost money to print. That is why black and white worksheets are ideal. You can save money, but your child also gets a bonus coloring page. Since the costs are low, you don't have to worry about buying costly workbooks.

Best Ways to Find Preschool Worksheets for Free

As highlighted above, my websites has a hundreds of printable preschool worksheets for free. Please click the link to go to the worksheets section.

Additional printable preschool worksheets for free can be found with a standard internet search on Yahoo or Google. Try searching for free preschool worksheets, free preschool printables, and so forth. Your search will automatically connect you with free printables.

How to Save Money on Preschool Printables

Preschool printables are anything that you can print for a preschooler. Falling into this category is preschool worksheets, preschool coloring pages, printable preschool paper games, and more!

While this lens does focus on free preschool worksheets, it is important to note that they aren't 100% free. It does require computer paper and printer ink to print these free worksheets. These costs can add up if you find yourself printing hundreds of worksheets.

Here are some helpful, simple, moneysaving tips:

Only Print Worksheets You'll Use

This is something that I am guilty of myself. I found a few nice worksheets online and I printed a ton of them. Half of them sit unused and my daughter is now in first grade. Only print a few worksheets at a time. Bookmark of favorite place the website you like to revisit again later.

Print Black and White Worksheets

Online, you'll find a large selection of preschool worksheets. This selection includes both black and white and colored worksheets. Color ink costs more than black and white, so opt for non-colored worksheets. Moreover, your child gets an extra activity; in addition to doing they worksheet they can also color the page!

Use Photo Protectors and Dry Erase Markers

Photo protectors are clear plastic sheets designed to protect photographs, but you can find them in standard letter/computer paper size as well. Insert your printable worksheets and have your child complete the worksheet with a dry erase marker. All you need to do is wipe the surface clean.

This is ideal if you want to have your child redo the worksheet in a few weeks, if you have a younger child who can use it in a few months or years, and so forth.

On the Path to Reading Preschool Worksheets

Path to Reading Preschool WorksheetMany parents mistakenly assume that the preschool age level is too young to read. But it isn't! Now is the best time to start your child on the path to reading.

Even if your child cannot put words together, at least familiarizing themselves with the sounds of the letters is good enough at this age.

Rhyming Preschool Worksheets

Letter Matching Preschool Worksheets

Letter Matching: Letting matching preschool worksheets are an easy way to get your child familiarized with the letters. While assisting them with these worksheets, help your child practice the sounds that each letter makes.

Rhyming: Rhyming is a simple and fun way to get your child excited about reading. Rhyming helped my daughter learn to read faster. For example, once she learns the word "car," it is much easier for her to sound out bar, far, star, tar, and so forth.

Beginning Sounds: These free preschool worksheets have letters on one side and pictures on the other. Have your child state aloud what the item is (sock), what letter does it start with. Slowly sounding out the word helps with reading compression.

Math Preschool Worksheets

Preschool Math WorksheetAt the preschool age level, math is going to basically include counting and simple adding and subtracting. At this age level, pictures provide great assistance. For example, your child is more likely to realize that 2 + 1 = 3 by seeing three images total that they can count.

All of the preschool worksheets on my website focus on the numbers 1-10 (whether it be counting or adding).

In addition to doing printable preschool math worksheets with your child, practice counting, adding, and even subtracting with everyday items. I always use to practice with my daughter. For instance, I'd give her 6 crackers for snack, after she ate 2, I'd ask how many where left and so forth.

Seasonal Preschool Worksheets

Halloween Preschool WorksheetThe phrase "seasonal" can be used to describe a lot. When I crated my preschool worksheet section, I focused on the seasons (winter, spring, summer, and fall). I also encouraged holiday worksheets into this section as well (Christmas, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas).

Preschool worksheets that focus on the seasonal changes are ideal in that your child can get a mini-science education while learning about the changes in the plantlife, wildlife, and weather.

Preschool worksheets that focus on holidays are ideal in that your child is able to learn and practice their skills all the while celebrating one of their favorite holidays. Your child will likely enjoy the cool Halloween pictures often found on Halloween preschool worksheets.
