I never thought it would be so difficult to find a printable job application for such a huge franchise.

My teenage son started looking around for his first job. The local Dairy Queen was hiring and he decided he wanted to try his luck there. The manager told him she wanted him to hand in the application in person. Nice. At least this place wanted to meet you face to face. Filling out faceless job applications online is frustrating and you are just lumped into the hundreds if not thousands of others who do the same.

He was told to print out the application from their website. He was also told that some other people had problems downloading and printing it. We soon discovered that this was because the application was non-existent. The manager kindly advised him to find a generic Dairy Queen application online and print that...a request that we found was more difficult than expected.

Trying to Find the Application

The Search Begins

We did an online search for Dairy Queen printable applications. There were applications for specific stores (they are individually franchised), but couldn't find a generic one. Some of the forms were badly scanned and pasted up, Some had squished up tiny print, while others were so extensively long (keep in mind the individual franchises). A lot of the applications were also set up to be filled out and electronically sent. The manager at our local store wanted a simple application filled out by hand.

We went on looking for generic fast food applications. There were plenty of those (slathered with pop up ads). There were applications for McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King and a whole list of every fast food place in existence...except Dairy Queen.

Finally a generic job application was found for Dairy Queen, but they were charging $19.95 to download it! Mind you, this was not on a Dairy Queen site, but a private site. After looking through dozens of applications and application sites, my friend mentioned that maybe the Dairy Queen near her home town might have a printable application. She searched for the Dairy Queen site in a small home town in northeastern United States and found a legible, simple Dairy Queen printable application. Finally!

Getting It Print Ready

The text was clear and the application was simple and standard. The only problem was the very large address of that Dairy Queen across the top. My friend downloaded a program to make changes to PDF files, covered over the address with a white box and saved it. It printed out beautifully! Nice, clean and sharp, there is plenty of room to write in the various parts of the application.

Dairy Queen should make this their standard application. I can't believe it was so difficult to find a clean, simple printable job application, and seriously, nobody should be paying to download one. Hopefully someone who is looking for a Dairy Queen job application finds this one before going through all the trouble I did.

Special thanks to that small, one street-light town for having the most legible, printable job application. Oh, and yes, my son got the job.
