Find 'em Fast: From Workshop Tools, Choose "Browse All Modules"

Google Maps This module creates a map of your city or business address. Choose from a number of display options, depending on your needs.
Google News This module shows the latest news stories about your city in real time. Just put the city name in the search criteria and choose your display options from the pull-down menus. You may need to tweak the search terms a bit to narrow your search and filter out undesirable posts.
Hometown Stats This module provides statistics for any zip code. Choose any or all of the following options: Population, Number of Households, Average House Value, Average Income per Household, Elevation, Population Breakdown.
Twitter Search This module displays the latest tweets related to your keyword, which will most likely be your city name, i.e., "Albuquerque." You may need to tweak the keywords a bit to narrow your search and filter out undesirable posts.
Weather This module displays the current conditions and forecast for any location. Just provide a city name or zip code.
Yelp This module is zip-code driven, and displays 5 or 10 Yelp reviews about Active Life, Food, Hotels & Travel, Professional Services, and a number of other categories available from a pull-down menu.

To increase your earning potential, simply include a few money-making modules, like Amazon, CafePress, and Zazzle. Samples of these modules are shown below. This is strictly optional—if your objective is to attract leads, a Squidoo lens will work fine without money-making modules. You can also add them at a later time. That's the power of Squidoo!

One of my favorite ways to monetize neighborhood lenses is with the Images of America books produced by Arcadia Publishing. I have several of these books in my own library, and often give them as gifts. Arcadia Publishing produces several other series that might also work, including Postcards of America, Then and Now, Campus History, and Corporate History. Some of these may be difficult to detect with the Amazon 'search' feature. For example, lenses featuring Washington, D.C. could include books about Capitol Hill, Georgetown University, and the Mayflower Hotel. I have better luck finding selections on the Arcadia Publishing Website and then searching for those particular titles directly from the Amazon module.

An Images of America author spotted his book on one of my notary lenses and thanked me for using it. That was pretty exciting!
