Sometimes Being Creative Just Takes A Little Boost!
Free Scrapbooking Layout #1: Simple Layout
Summer Days
I had three pictures of my daughter that were taken while we were camping. She looked so relaxed, just enjoying the warm weather and the sunshine. I wanted to create a simple page that would show how much she enjoyed her first summer. That is why I chose bright, sunshiny colors.Supplies Needed:
1 sheet 12"x12" orange and white gingham patterned paper
1 sheet 8½"x11" yellow cardstock
1 sheet 12"x12" orange cardstock
4 metal summer charms
4 medium sized orange brads
1" alphabet stamp set ( I used Close To My Heart's Woodcut Alphabet)
Orange ink pad
Step-by-Step page layout:
1. Mat the two smaller pictures on yellow cardstock, leaving a ½" border.
2. Mat all three pictures on orange. Leaving a very small border.
3. Trim two 2" strips off of the yellow cardstock; on one stamp "SUMMER DAYS" and on the other stamp "DRIFTING AWAY%u2026"
4. Trim these both ¼" from the edges.
5. Trim two 1" strips from the orange cardstock
6. Cut out four 1" squares from the yellow cardstock and mat them with a thin orange border.
7. Tack the charms onto the squares using a strong adhesive. Let dry.
8. Adhere the pictures to the middle of the page, using photo tabs.
9. Adhere the orange border and the stamped titles, using an acid free gluestick.
10. Attach the charm square using the brads.
This page took me about one hour to create, including time for choosing paper and embellishments, so it is a rather simple layout that even a beginner will not have too much trouble with.

PLAY
I created this two-page spread when I was just getting used to working with patterned paper. I had some photos of my son playing in the autumn leaves and I wanted to create a page that would show the sheer joy that a pile of leaves could bring to a three year old little boy.Supplies Needed:
2 sheets 12"x12" striped patterned paper in autumn colors (I chose burgundy and green)
1 sheet 12"x12" patterned paper to coordinate with the other patterned paper
2 sheets (2 different colors) 12"x12" solid cardstock to match patterned paper
1 Conversation Card Title (I chose: PLAY is really the work of childhood)
1 vellum saying (you could also leave this box for journaling, if you choose)
16 acid free paper autumn leaves
8 snaps in coordinating colors
Step-by-Step page layout:
1. Mat the pictures on the darker cardstock, leaving a ¼" border.
2. Mat the pictures again on the lighter cardstock, leaving a 1/8" border.
3. Mat the title card and the vellum saying on darker cardstock, leaving a ¼" border.
4. Trim two 3" strips from the sheet of coordinated patterned paper; glue these to the outside edges of the first two sheets.
5. Mat the two sayings on coordinating paper, leaving a ½" border.
6. Cut a 3½"x2¼" rectangle from the darker cardstock; attach to the top left corner, using four snaps.
7. Attach the title card onto this, using an acid free glue stick.
8. Attach saying or journaling box to second page on the bottom left corner, using four snaps.
9. Attach the matted pictures to the pages, using photo tabs.
10. Attach the paper leaves, using a glue stick.
This page took me about three hours to create, including time for choosing paper and embellishments. It is an intermediate page. It may be a little bit tougher for a beginner, but will not be too hard for someone who has been scrapbooking for awhile.
Free Scrapbooking Layout #3: Advanced
Dollies
I created this page of my daughter and her dollies. She has been called dolly since she was born and I wanted to create a page of her being a dolly.Supplies Needed:
1 sheet 12"x12" dark rose cardstock
1 sheet 8½"x11" chocolate cardstock
1 sheet 8½"x11" light rose cardstock
3 large white paper daisies
5 small white paper daisies
12" chocolate and rose striped ribbon
3 fabric covered brads to coordinate with ribbon
5 small pink brads
Chipboard letters to spell "dollies"
1 conversation card: pink baby
1 rose colored ink pad
1 chocolate colored ink pad
Step-by-Step page layout:
1. Mat the pictures on the light rose cardstock, leaving a ¼" border.
2. Mat the pictures again on the chocolate cardstock, leaving a 1/8" border.
3. Glue the chipboard letters backwards onto the chocolate paper; cut carefully around each letter with a craft knife; sand the edges with sandpaper.
4. Mat the conversation card on the chocolate cardstock, leaving a 1/8" border.
5. Attach the ribbon to the top of the dark rose cardstock, using a glue stick.
6. Attach the photos to the paper, using photo tabs.
7. Attach the conversation card to the bottom left corner, using an acid free glue stick.
8. Cut out a 1½"x4" journaling box from light rose cardstock ant mat with chocolate; attach to bottom right, using a glue stick.
9. Attach the woodchip letters to the ribbon, using a strong adhesive; let dry.
10. Press all of the daisies into the rose colored ink pad, so that the flowers turn completely pink; let dry.
11. Press the daisies lightly into the chocolate ink pad, just to color the ridges.
12. Attach the large daisies with fabric covered brads.
13. Attach the small daisies with small pink brads
This page took me about four hours to create, including time for choosing paper and embellishments. The covering, cutting and sanding of the letters makes it a little bit more time consuming. It is an advanced page because it is a little bit more time consuming, but is really not that hard to create if you have the time.
