Active Stock Screener

There are no shortage of stock screeners on the web. Screeners range from the simple,as offered by the likes of Google, to the more advanced, as formerly offered by Microsoft. However, no screener has gone beyond the basic filter process - with the exception of one: Zignals Stock Screener.

Zignals stock screener offers the benefits of a traditional screener and combines it with a unique feature called the "Fundamental Trading System". This is a process known as active screening.

Active screening works by running fundamental filter criteria against the universe of stocks, on a daily basis (after the market closes), delivering to the trader a list of newly qualified stocks meeting scan criteria, plus a list of stocks which no longer qualify. Logging into your account gives you access to the full list of qualified stocks.

Active screening has the added benefit of creating unique (active) stock lists which can be used to build stock alerts or a trading system.

Active stock lists are highly compatible with stock alerts; matching stocks with strongest fundamentals to that of momentum price action.

"This site has a lot going for it. It has great tools on par with many brokerage websites. I particularly like the alerts and charts. One aspect you have to understand is that this site is built around sharing data. For example, you can follow people and browse their charts and see their technical analysis for particular stocks. Looking at how more experienced traders view a stock chart is invaluable if you are learning the ropes.

What really sets this site apart from others is the strategies section. It is a market place where you can view different types of trading strategies, subscribe to ones you like, and even create and sell your own. Many of the strategies are dirt cheap ($10/month and up) and have a good history of returns (well, the history is rather short since the site is rather new). At such a low price they are worth a look instead putting down thousands of dollars to follow some "guru" promising incredible returns."

"Granted that since April of this year we're in a more "picky" market and you can't just set a few filters like I did and get reasonable output, I found the tools at that time to give basically-rational output from my input.

A setup like Zignals is going to be the future of the trading-meets-web 2.0 movement. I'm not sure as to what kind of back-room deals they've made with the platform for licensing, but if they keep it free and "open-source" collaborative, the sky's the limit on a product like this.
