Protecting your teens online from the dangers of in the Internet can be easily done if you follow the right steps. Your teens are going to be interacting with their friends online through Facebook, Myspace and other sites. It is when they get bored and try and meet new people when danger usually finds them. By the age of 14, 77% of teens have been contacted by a predator online, and twelve percent of teenage girls admitted to eventually meeting strangers they first met while online in person.

Younger teens generally fall victim to online predators if they're having a troubled home life, or feel they're not getting enough attention from boys at school. We all have to come to the realization that our young teens are starting to have sexual urges and this lead to trouble. Make sure to talk to your kids about sex and make them feel comfortable, education is the key.

It is best to build up some trust with your teen in order to feel a certain level of comfort about their Internet habits. If they break your trust you may want to put in certain rules like, having their Internet access monitored for illicit behavior. Make sure to keep in touch with your kids and make sure they're having a safe and fun time online!
