Unlimited Online Storage - Free!

The online storage market is booming, with plenty of companies competing for your attention.

Some of these companies offer free online storage accounts but most of these have limited space, and sometimes limited features such as access via a web portal only without dedicated desktop client software to run automated backups and such.

There are not many services that offer unlimited online storage for free - it is easy to understand why that is. Imagine the cost of running an infrastructure that securely and reliably hosts many thousands of Terabytes of data, the team that supports it, developers that maintain the software, etc.

The only way this can be done for free is if the effort is supported by advertising, or when the online storage service uses some kind of referral program where you as the user get credits or free extra space when you refer a friend.

Use Online Storage For

- Archiving your data in a different location
- Easily sharing files with family and friends
- Automated backups of all your computers
- Creating online photo albums
- Accessing your data from anywhere in the world

Free Unlimited Uploads with Gygan

new kid on the block

Gygan is a relatively new service that officially is still running in beta, but it works pretty well and you can sign up for free and start using the fully functional client software

The client is currently only available for Windows 7, Vista and XP.

Uploading to Gygan using the client software is very easy and they provide you with free unlimited uploads, unlimited storage, sharing and bandwidth for uploads..

There is no file size limitation so whether you want to upload and share a 20 MB zip file or a 1 GB video file, it can be done with the free account.

However, there's a catch (there had to be, right?) Your downloads are NOT unlimited.

The download limit is 4 GB per month which is probably plenty for most of us, but if you want to download more than that you would need to upgrade to a paid download account.

IMPORTANT:The default setting for uploads is 'this is a public file' - meaning it is shared with the world. Make sure you select the 'this file is private' before uploading. This means that if you want to share the file with someone you would have to send them the specific link to that file.

Give Gygan a try with a free account

Free Unlimited Online Storage: LiveDrive

How to get LiveDrive's service for virtually free

I consider LiveDrive to be one of the best online storage services out there, especially now that they released an awesome application for the Mac. The software is very easy to use, integrates well with both Windows and Mac environments and it has a ton of features.

LiveDrive is one of the few providers that delivers true unlimited online storage for a flat monthly fee.

But wait, you may be thinking, I thought you said this was about unlimited online storage that is free? Well like I mentioned in the intro, that is almost impossible, but ... Livedrive offers an incentive program that rewards you with free service.

Impressive - I just started using DropBox for some online storage, but it's not enough space, so I've been thinking a lot about other online storage solutions. This lens is great food for thought, not only for the information about online storage, but also I see some great things you've done here that I should be doing on my pages. Nice work!
