The 3D Warehouse

The Largest Free Website on the Net for Sketchup Models

The 3D Warehouse is undoubtedly the undisputed site to get models for Sketchup 5 or 6. There are thousands of 3D models here in a vast variety of categories.

The 3D Warehouse is owned by Google and mostly relies on model makers all over the world to create content for the website. Google in house model makers and contracted model makers periodically post models to the site, but most of the content is made by 3d modeler's of armature to professional skill levels.

Unfortunately, since there are armature model makers at the 3D Warehouse the content is not always quality content.

The 3D Warehouse has recently been invaded by some spammers who post 2D pictures and only post links to their website in the description box. Also, some model makers who are professional are having their ratings sabotaged by model makers of a lower skill level in an attempt to boost the visibility of their models.

Nonetheless, Google is combating these individuals and it is most times easy to find exactly what you're looking for. It just takes a little digging sometimes.

It should also be noted the use of the models you obtain from the 3D Warehouse are limited to personal use only. Unless you own Sketchup Pro you cannot distribute or sell the content you get from the 3D Warehouse.

Also, another downside is the models are only available for Sketchup and unless you own Sketchup Pro you are stuck with the 30-day trial of Sketchup and can only use the content for personal use.
