Free 40th birthday card poems - part 1

Funny 40th birthday poems

Here are two poems, it might be fun if you mix and match the verse's between them to make your own!

The Ripe Young Age Of Forty

Aren't you tired of all the jokes
Of the people yelling "lordy, lordy"
All because you're turning
the ripe young age of forty?

Oh how you thought you knew it all
Well, you sure as heck knew plenty
And you put it all to use real good
At the ripe old age of twenty

And when it came to romance
You were awfully awfully flirty
No one could hold a candle to you
When you were all of thirty

But now they say you're older
And breaking down doesn't feel so nifty
But how much worse will it be
In ten years when you turn fifty?

Yes, you still have aches and pains
Always asking the doctor to "please fix me"
Could you please stop your whinin' though?
You sound like you've just turned sixty!

Well, take a deep breath and relax my friend
And tonight when you drift off into slumber
Forget about having just turned forty
Afterall, it's just a number

How old are you

As we age and get older
Some things become harder to do
But no one knows this near as much
As poor decrepit you

"How old are you" comes the question
And you simply let out a drawn out sigh
It's not from depression or a bad mood
It's just so hard to count that high

If your age was a paycheck
You would be a rich man
If your age was a bank account
You could buy a large tract of land

If your age was the temperature
You'd be suffering from heat stroke
If your age was a comedian
It would tell an extremely old joke

If your age was your waist size
No pants would ever fit
If your age was a zookeeper
It would be so slow it would get bit

But forty isn't really all that old
You have way more future than you have past
Your body may be slowing down, that's true
But, relax, your mind was really never fast

Party for 40th birthday - great birthday ideas

40th party ideas

There are many different ways to either celebrate your own 40th birthday or to surprise someone on their 40th birthday. Here we suggest a few ideas to help you along the way and please feel free to share any thoughts or ideas with us in our guestbook which you can find further along down the page....

Number one probably has to be, Throw a party, invite your friends ask them if they know of anyone the birthday person may know but you may not be familiar with or someone maybe they haven't seen for a very long time. You might even want to spice the party up a little and make it a themed occasion where you invite your guests to dress up in a certain themed costume and maybe ask the birthday boy or girl to wear a different themed costume to ensure the guest of honour stands out and can be noticed. You could try to organise a surprise party but would suggest you enrol some help for this one and would advise that this would take a lot of planning.
Another idea could be to have a 'four decades' party with the venue set up into the styles of the previous four decades and within each area you could maybe place photo's of the host as they lived through each era, or a party based around the 'birth' year.
You could set up a 'this is your life' party where you highlight the ups, downs and all out funny moments of the past 40 years.
Another thought for a party could be a casino evening, there are numerous possibilities here and maybe, especially for men, poker is the in thing !

Why not try an Experience. Experiences can range from a day trip to a theme park to a vip nascar day trip. They can be for the thrill seekers who might want to try a parachute jump to others who may want a day at a football game or even less strenuous like a pampered day at a health and beauty resort, the choice of Experiences available are vast and there should be something for everyone's taste.

Another great way of spending your 40th could be to, Take a break. There are many long or short vacations where you can simply relax and unwind or enjoy thrills and spills, below we have set you going if you wish to plan a trip to las vegas, just fill in the missing gaps and see how little it could cost to get there and enjoy your 40th birthday experience at the city that never sleeps...

So big deal you're getting older

An invading army wears lots of camouflage
They don't need to look trendy or even sporty
But then there is you on the other hand
Doing your best to not look forty

Your new hairstyle is top notch
The color couldn't be bolder
But it can't hide the fact
That yes, you are getting older

Your new face lift is undetectable
Or so you'd like to think
People keep wondering if your skull is getting larger
Or if your skin is prone to shrink

Your wardrobe surely needs some attention
It's as if you dress like your house has no mirrors
And just like the famous Haley's Comet
Some of your clothing has not been seen in years

So big deal you're getting older
It isn't any reason for you to sulk
And who cares that you have to purchase
Your wrinkle remover in bulk

So, embrace your age proudly now
And face the world with a new hunger
And if all else fails and you're feeling down
Just try dating someone who is much younger

Your fortieth birthday

So your depressed and oh-so saddened
And maybe feeling a little sickly
All because your fortieth birthday
Is approaching rather quickly

You're all stressed out and mortified
You think life will never be the same
Up till now your life's been fascinating
And you're worried that after 40 it'll be lame

You need to relax and get on with your life
In the end, your worries are not all that real
Its just a birthday like all the others
So what if you can remember the inventing of the wheel

So embrace your friends and thank the well-wishers
That sing "Happy Birthday" to you like they were a choir
And when they light the candles on your cake
Pray and hope they don't start your home on fire

It doesn't matter what your personality is
Whether your casual, serious, deep thinking, or sporty
You might as well enjoy the party
Because whats the alternative to turning forty?

So cheer up my friend, it could be so much worse
And in the end, everything will be just fine
Because remember the only true way to avoid turning forty
Is to die at thirty-nine

Do you class 40 as a milestone in life ?

Does getting to 40 delight you or sadden you ?

Yep, when I get to 40 or now I'm past 40 I will be / was delighted just to have reached another milestone in my life !

Expressions says:

Being 40 is Fantastic!

lakeerieartists says:

40 seems so long ago. 50 will definitely be a milestone for me.

Michey says:

I think each edge has its beauty; the problem is to find that beauty! The edge is not a bunch of figures on a piece of paper; your true edge is the edge of your soul.

synajib83 says:

Whenever someone is getting older, he or she will also become wiser. So I delightful if I can translate my older age by becoming wiser person

rydigga says:

I am delighted. Age brings wisdom and each and every day I've been learning new things about myself.

Either reaching 40 or remembering it fills me with sadness !

papawu says:

I will simply stay 35 for the rest of my life. Jack Benny isn't the only one who can stay the same age.

sandyspider says:

I knew it was all down hill when I reach 25!

kiwisoutback says:

40 is scary to me...I'm blocking it out as we speak. I have 12 years to go, but right now I'm thinking of that big 3-0 that's staring me in the face.

poddys says:

I learned to deal with being 40, took a while, but I got over it. Reaching 50 was a lot harder to accept. Whereas 40 is really middle age, 50 is old. Well I finally learned to deal with being 50 as well. Now I'm 54 and struggling with the knowledge that 54 is practically halfway to 60, and we all know that 60 is seriously old.

Over The Hill At Forty

So it's your fortieth birthday;
Four decades have gone and passed.
They say when you get older,
Time goes twice as fast.

I wouldn't know, of course,
Since I am still quite young,
But for you, the music is over;
Your last song has been sung.

You're just over the hill at forty;
You went down without a fight.
Time rushes on, and soon
That "hill" will be out of sight!

Happy Birthday Anyway!

Congratulations

Well congratulations (name)
On getting to the big four-0,
It looks like its been a hard life,
And boy does it show.

OK, so now your 40,
Theres no need for despair,
Its just a fact of your life,
Your gonna' start to loose your hair.

The wrinkles, they will start to show,
You may ache from head to toe,
Dont take it as a 40th blow,
It started long ago.

So congratulations again my friend,
I'm about coming to the end,
Unfortunatley its a well known fact,
Your gonna' beat me to the bend.
