Free College Resources

College can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be. There are a lot of free college resources online available for students at all levels.

Free Test Preparation

SAT, ACT, practice tests online

Free college resources can help you get accepted to your favorite school or help you get a better deal on tuition and financial aid. SAT classes can be extremely expensive and time-consuming, but if you are sufficiently motivated, you can access all of this information free online.

The college board provides a free SAT preparation test. Click here to print out a copy of the test or complete one online.

The ACT organization offers some free advice on their test as well. On this page you can view some test descriptions, practice questions, and test-taking suggestions that will benefit any high school student headed to college.

CLEP out of Tuition

Think you already know this stuff? Skip it!

Advanced placement and IB classes are a great way to prove you've mastered college level content before paying college-level tuition.

Another alternative for students who know the material well is the CLEP test: this test will allow students to show their understanding of the subject and many colleges will accept the test for college credit. You get to move on to more advanced classes, and you'll save money on tuition!

CLEP Out Of College

Active-duty military have been able to take CLEPS for free. Now, there is an even better reason to take one....

Free College Scholarship Searches

Find free money for college

Everyone says they want free college scholarships, but have you actually put in the required time and effort to find it?

The money is out there, but the first step is to find the scholarships, grants, and contests that you're eligible for. Don't pay money for a college scholarship search, use one of the great free online resources available.

Fastweb is one of the first - click here to get started with a Fastweb scholarship search profile. Its free of course, but they might end up using your registration data for marketing purposes. Scholarship Experts is another great free scholarship search, but it shares the problem of registration.

Thanks to Google's custom search technology, you can also use a free no registration scholarship search.

There are millions of scholarship checks written every year, the only catch is you have to find the right ones, apply, and convince the judging panel that you deserve the financial assistance.

Don't pay when the information is available online for free! There is no such thing as a "guaranteed" scholarship and anyone promising one is probably looking for a way to get your money.
