Are You Poster Compliant?

One of the least compliant requirements in organizations is the posting of federal and state posters. If the Department of Labor comes into an organization, one of the first things they look at is the display of required employment posters. If they come in for an audit and there are no posters readily available to employees that can raise even more red flags because this is the simplest requirement to fulfill.

The Best Part is They Are FREE

The Department of Labor (DOL) has many poster requirements for several laws. To comply, employers are required to display the official posters where their employees can readily observe them. What many employers do not know is that these posters are available for free. States also have poster requirements in addition to the federal requirements, these too are free to employers.

Poster Requirement Regulations

First, notices must be hung where employees can readily see them. The notices must be conspicuous, easily accessible and well lighted. Further, separate buildings, annexes, and usually floors require their own set of notices.

Second, the notices must be readily visible to job applicants. Areas where applicants usually don't go are inadequate.

Third, it is advisable the notices should be posted where visitors can see them.

Great Places to Display Posters

It is a great idea to have a separate bulletin board reserved especially for required posters so they will not be covered by other announcements and postings.
