Finding Small Business Grants
By Greg Heslin
Poor financing is the number two reason small businesses fail, falling right behind poor management. Sufficient funding is paramount to the success of small businesses, and small business grants can be the answer to the problem. If business owners have the necessary knowledge about how to find and properly request grants, they have a better shot at creating a successful business that will be open longer and prosper. There are over 300 different grants and loans available for small businesses that are just starting out. The grants range from $25,000 up to $1,000,000 depending on the size and projected success rate of the business. There are also grants available to help small businesses grow or expand. Grants are not the same as loans because they do not have to be repaid. A grant is considered free money, as well as an investment to promote the success of small businesses and the U.S. economy. Money for grants comes from income taxes. Obtaining a small business grant does not require credit checks or deposits, even if the owners have experienced bankruptcy in the past.
There are a number of helpful websites that send small businesses government grant packages for free, excluding the cost of shipping. These packages include information on how to find grants, how to prepare a grant request, and how to apply for grants pertaining to a specific business. Some of the providers are Government Funding Solutions, Grant Master, and Grant Wizard.
It is important to be familiar with the Small Business Administration's (SBA) rules for receiving grants before beginning the process of obtaining one. Although the SBA does not provide grants to small businesses, they do provide helpful suggestions and resources on how to find grants. In order to qualify for a small business grant, individuals must first become familiar with the 13 CFR 143 document that lists all of the requirements to be eligible for a grant. This document includes information on the pre-award and post-award periods and defines all aspects of applying for a grant and states who is eligible. The CFR is the primary source of rules and regulations for small business grants and must be read before starting the grant writing process.
After reviewing the requirements, prospective business owners must write a grant request. There are professionals who will write a grant proposal or the individuals may complete it themselves. The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance is a helpful site that links individuals to resources about federal grants for small businesses. Afterschool.gov gives helpful tips on how to write a small business grant and, although it is geared toward grants for after school programs, includes helpful information for grant writing in general.
Additionally, there are many well-established government and private organizations that provide grants to small businesses. The Department of Justice's Ten Grant document gives access to grant opportunities for those conducting research in support of law enforcement.
The Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration has several grant opportunities for small business owners. They offer about $125 million to businesses that are based in a community setting with special attention to training programs. The Department of Transportation is another organization that offers small business grants. They offer grants to any business willing to help resolve the growing problems with the federal-aid highway program. The Department of Education has a program called e-GRANTS that locates electronic grants online. They have a detailed list of grants available and the necessary applications to fill out. There are a variety of grants available for different groups, all of which have detailed descriptions and contact information. Other organizations that provide small business grants include the EPA, the National Cancer Institute, NOAA, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.Greg Heslin is a best selling author on various legitimate work from home opportunities. Money from Uncle Sam is like pennies from heaven?
by Michael Dhooghe
Programs that help you find online grants and scholarships, are they worth your while? Each year, the federal government and private foundations gives out hundreds of billions of dollars grant and scholarship programs. The programs are used to pay for school, expand or buy a business, pay for a home, remodel a home, pay bills, purchasing a car, paying taxes, paying medical expenses and many other reasons. In most cases grants and scholarships don't have to be paid back. As long as you can validate your reasons for the money, fill out the application, the grant or scholarship could be awarded to that individual. No collateral requirements or credit checks in most cases.
In many cases the general public is not aware of the vast amount of programs that are out there. Law mandates the U.S. government and private foundations have to distribute the money every year.
Now many of the grants and scholarships that exist with the federal government and private foundations award them to local and state governments. The other recipients are to non profit organizations and schools, but that still leaves money left over for the private citizen.
Of course the grant and scholarship information is free if you know where to find it. It does take some digging to uncover what applies to you or not, this where the online programs come in to play. They help you sort out the information and guide you to what you need. They will show you how much money is available and where to apply for it. You will be given names and addresses along with applications for each specific program. It helps you weed out the grants you do or don't qualify for; there are several thousand grants and scholarships out there.
To start with you must be at least 18 years of age. If you have bad credit and a current home owner or are looking to be a home owner, a woman, minority, business owner, parent or a student you could qualify for wider range of grants or scholarships.
While the exact number of programs changes each year, depending on where federal grant funding goes and which foundations are created, there are typically around 1,500 separate funding programs supplied by almost 100 different agencies annually. Grant programs can be divided into four categories. Personal Grants, Business Grants, Educational Grants & Health Care Grants.
True there are a lot of scams out there and its buyer bewares. Which online program is good, with so many of them out there, a review site could be handy for you.

Financing Your College Education
By Peter Kenny
Scholarships A scholarship is typically a merit-based monetary award provided by a college or a foundation based upon some predetermined criteria. Scholarships are not only for great athletes or excellent students. There are many scholarships available based upon community service, standardized test scores or other criteria.
Scholarships don't have to be repaid, which is the good thing. Some scholarships are one-time awards and others may be renewable yearly. Most renewable scholarships require students to maintain a certain grade point average. Otherwise, the scholarship may be lost.
Grants Grants can be given out by the government or by private organizations. The main difference between a scholarship and a grant is that grants are usually awarded based upon financial need or some other type of criteria other than scholastic achievement. However, there are some exceptions.
Most grants awarded by the government are based upon need. It must be determined that you cannot pay for college on your own, based upon your family income and the cost of the education.
There are a limited number of grants available, so not all applicatns will receive a grant.
Military Funding If you, your spouse, or either of your parents are currently members of a branch of the military, or have been military members in the past, you may be eligible for military funding for your education. Military funding is similar to scholarships and grants in that it does not need to be repaid.
To find out if you are eligible for military funding for your college education, check with your commanding officer.
College Fund Your parents or other relatives may have set up a college fund for you. A college fund is contributed to over the course of several years and it is used when you decide to enroll in college.
The amount of money in your college fund may not cover all your college expenses. If it is not enough, you can suppliment it with another source of funds.
Student Loans Taking out a loan is one of the last ways you can fund your college education. The main drawback of student loans versus other funding is that the loans must be paid back once you receive your degree. usually the benefits of your education will greatly outweigh the cost of the loan, making it a realistic way of funding your higher education.

Government Grants - Hassle Free Option For Debt Relief
by Milos Prsic
Why Government Gives Grants For Debt Relief
When people are debt ridden, their expenditure decreases. This reduces the demand for various things in the economy because people will not have money to spend. Slowly this affects all areas of the economy, with the result that the economy of the state / nation suffers. Therefore it is imperative that the people have enough spending capacity so that the economy prospers.
Debt Relief With Government Grants
Government grants are more easily available than other forms of loans. This is because grants unlike loans do not require collateral or any other form of security. These thousands of dollars got as grants can be used for starting a new business, the proceeds from which can be used to clear off previous debts. Grants are also available for clearing off debts incurred due to specific reasons like health care, education, business expenses etc. For e.g. a debt incurred for health care purposes like hospitalization, medical bills, etc. can be cleared with the help of government grants. Grants are easily available to those people who can prove to the government that they are not in a position to pay off their debts. The social service office elaborately studies the financial position, outstanding debts and repayment capability of the debtor before issuing the grant. This is to ensure that the grant is going to the extremely needy people who have no other means to salvage their debt ridden situation.

Options to Pay for College
by James Freman
Free money is basically what it sounds like. It is money given to you to be used for your education that you never need to pay back. These usually come in two types of forms and those are either scholarships or grants. Scholarships are given usually by organizations that support some theme which you have to qualify under to be even eligible to receive the scholarship. But don't worry, there are hundreds of thousands of different kinds of scholarships so there is bound to be several that you are qualified for. The second type of "free money" is known as a grant. There are usually given by the government, federal and state, by the school itself and sometimes by private organizations. The most popular grant to college students is the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant or the FSEOG. To be eligible for this grant, you must fill out an application for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid more commonly known as the FAFSA application. These grants usually come by a first come first serve basis so it's best to fill out and turn in your applications as early as possible.
The second way to pay for your college education is by student loans. And as the name gives it away, this type of money is a loan so you need to pay it back with an interest rate which is usually fixed once you are finished with your education. Unlike scholarships and grants which grant you from a range of a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars, loans allow you to borrow a lot more from the government or the private organization. Two of the most common types of loans are the Federal Stafford Loans and the Federal Parent PLUS Loans. The Federal Stafford Loan is a simple-interest loan where a student borrows the money in their own name and the Federal Parent PLUS Loan is a low-interest loan that allows the parents of the student to borrow up to 100% of the total expenses to their child's education. To be eligible to receive these loans, a FAFSA application must be filled out and turned in.
The third and last way to pay for your education is the work-study program. How a work-study program works is that you will work off your expenses on or nearby campus while attending your college or university at a rate starting at minimum wage or higher. There are an extremely limited amount of positions available so there are given out at a first come first serve basis.
Now that you know there are other options out there for you to receive that education you so earnestly deserve, get out there and grab it with your own hands.
