And you command your troops in battle and solve missions against the aliens. The aliens attack or setup bases on different locations, and in the missions it is your responsibility to secure the areas.

Abandoned, but not forgotten

Old computer games are sometimes given to the public for enjoyment. This is because the game is old, and the company no longer supports it, or is able to sell it. Sometimes the creators don't even exist anymore. This is called abandonware, as in abandoned software.Abandonware is usually old DOS games made for 10 year (or more) old hardware. Windows was not a gaming platform then, and many games will not run properly, or at all with Windows XP or Windows Vista. There is a solution to this, called DOSBox (see more below).
If you own an older computer you can use that to play abandonware on. No need to fight the kids for the newest pc in the household.

Hmm I was thinking about that - somehow if I get into playing stuff there (like Transport Tycoon), I may end up never having time for my lenses. By the way, have you come across Portable Apps - running free software on a portable drive? There is a section there on Portable Games, and as it has a portable version of DOS Box - then abandonia games can run on a USB drive.
