You would think a mom-to-be would be enjoying her own baby shower. Obviously, she wasn't.
Why? Because the gal who threw the shower (it wasn't me!) wanted to try all these free baby shower games she found online. These are usually junk, unfortunately.
I've gone to a lot of showers, and I've hosted my fair share myself. So here are...
Five Traps to Avoid in Baby Shower Games
- Not Fun. This seems obvious, but too often shower games aren't fun. Don't force your shower-goers to sit through something boring. Best bet: something short and fun that gets the guests interacting with each other.
- Not Interesting. Don't ask the ladies to play a game your child might play in kindergarten. Even if you have some younger gals attending your shower, don't dumb down your games for them. They'll enjoy the adult games too.
- Too Hard to Set Up. You'll have enough to worry about when getting the shower together. Don't make your job worse with games that require elaborate preparations.
- Too Hard to Play. Nobody has time for memorizing rules.
- Asking Too Much of the Guests. Don't ask your guests to bring things to use in the games. We're all busy, and people will be harried enough trying to buy a gift and get to the shower on time. It's almost certain that some people will forget their game props, and then your plans are wasted.
