How many times has it happened, when someone mentions an old comedy show, the brain immediately floods with memories as real as if it were yesterday with vivid pictures and real sounds of these great characters.
Mention DAD'S ARMY and we are away again, immediately surrounded by a bunch of old codgers and a few not so old, dressed up in thick khaki army dress with broom handles in hand and ready to defend our shores. Can you here the sound of panic "Pike and Frazier you cover the left flank, Jones you go with Sergeant Wilson and cover the right, Walker and Godfrey you cover our rear". Of course if this defense plan were to fail there would always be a reserve plan such as a suggestion like "Captain Mannering (Mainwaring) maybe if we give them some of Jone's meat they will go away"
