Ideas on how to save at the pump
1 ) If you can, try to fill your car with gas on Wednesdays. Experts say that statistically, gas prices are the lowest on Wednesdays. However, this is only true over a large number of days. It won't be true every week.2) Save $0.20 per gallon by observing the speed limit. Although different for each car, gas mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph. As a rule of thumb, you can assume that each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.20 per gallon for gas. Source: www.fueleconomy.gov
3) Use the internet to find the cheapest gas prices in your area. Two of my favorites are gasbuddy.com and gaspricewatch.com
4) If you are going to leave your car running for more than 30 seconds, turn the car off.

- Avoid impulse buying while shopping for groceries. Always take a list of what you need and stick to it!
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist for generic drugs instead of brand name ones. With brand name drugs you are usually paying more to cover their higher costs, such as marketing.
- Only run your clothes washer and dishwasher with a full load. You will use less water, electricity, and detergents by reducing the number of times you wash.
- Raise your deductible on your homeowners insurance. The higher your deductible, the more money you can save on your premiums. Most insurance companies recommend a deductible of at least $500. If you can afford it, you may save as much as 25% by raising your deductible to $1,000.
- You can save hundreds of dollars each year by using coupons on a regular basis.

- Split an entree with your spouse. Today most restaurants serve portions that are more than enough for the average person. My wife and I usually split an entree. You can always throw in an appetizer or have room for dessert if you don't think half an entree is enough for you.
