If you've been thinking about Homeschooling and not sure if you should...
10 years ago when my oldest dear son was born, there were only a few families homeschooling, and the only curriculum available was hugely expensive.
The idea of making up your own curriculum was completely foreign to us.
By the time he was 4, I was more than ready to send him to Pre-school. This mothering thing was just not working out, and I was afraid I would crush his spirit.
6 years later, I've finally found my Identity in Christ, knowing who I am, and why I am here.
Also, I have found that Public school was moulding my children's personalities. Within a month of bringing them home, they changed completely, they were a pleasure to have around 24/7!
No more stress, no pressure of homework, exams and bullies at Public School.
No, every day is not pure bliss, but like I've heard a wise mom say, your worst day at homeschool is most likely the best day at Public School!
What are the best things about homeschooling?
- You can spend the day outside by pool, while you learn where the sun rises and sets
- You get to do school in your pj's
- You get to choose if you feel like doing a foreign language today, or NOT
- You get to sleep late after many hours at night, because you're learning how to be a squid
- You get to choose out of a few hundred different curricula's from all over the world
Homeschool = Easy
With internet being your constant companion, it is difficult to say no to homeschool
One of the greatest bits of advice a veteran homeschooler gave me was "Don't buy a curriculum yet, just look around and see what your options are".
I am so thankful she did that!
After looking at every curriculum available, from local South African homeschooling, to international such as Sonlight, My Father's World, Heart of Wisdom , I finally settled on a FREE curriculum based strictly on the Charlotte Mason Approach, found at www.amblesideonline.org
I have been gathering all the recommended books and will most probably start at the end of July.
I can't wait!
Really good books from Amazon on Homeschooling

- I homeschool my son because there is so much in the public school system that I don't want my son exposed to at an early age: drugs, strong language, rated-x converstaions, etc. Good luck on your venture!
