Free Iced Lemonade Coaster Crochet Pattern

Materials:
Small piece of clear vinyl (purchased from a fabric store or WalMart)
Small amount worsted weight yarn
Size H crochet hook
Hole punch
Wet-erase marker

Size: Any desired...the one pictured is 4 1/2" in diameter.

Step 1: Using wet-erase marker, trace around desired-size circle template on vinyl. I simply traced around a large cup.
Step 2: Cut out circle from vinyl. You will use your hole punch to punch holes evenly spaced all around the edge of your circle, about 1/4" in from the edge. It may help to use your wet-erase marker to mark evenly spaced holes before you punch. It may take a bit of elbow grease to punch holes. Punch quickly and hard.
Step 3: Once all holes have been punched, rinse vinyl under warm water to wash away marks, dry.
Step 4: Join yarn w sl st to any hole, ch 1, 2 sc in same hole, 2 sc in each hole around, join w sl st to first sc, fasten off.

Weave in ends. Make lemonade. Enjoy!

Thanks! You may want to practice punching holes on a scrap piece of vinyl first. It took me a few tries to get my holes to come out perfectly. I learned you have to punch hard and fast.
I picked my vinyl up in the remnant bin at WalMart...check there first...it's cheaper! I also "ironed" my vinyl by placing it between two thin towels and pressing with a warm iron for just a few seconds. Be very careful not to overheat! This smoothed out all of the wrinkles...
Enjoy!

What a clever and simple idea! I can't wait to make a bunch of these up! They will make great holiday coasters for our yearly family party too!
