All about earning free IMVU credits
If you don't already know, IMVU is a fun chat experience where you can create your own 3D persona (called an avatar) and look and dress however you like! Create a virtual "you" or try out something completely different, it's all up to you! You can learn the basics of IMVU here. IMVU is free to join and use, though you may find you want to buy or earn Credits--the currency of IMVU--in order to make your experience even better!

Understanding the different ways to earn FREE IMVU Credits!
Which methods are available to get free credits on IMVU?
Banner links and referrals work by giving you a banner (an image that links to a website) with a special code. You place this banner anywhere you want (usually on your IMVU profile page is a good start), and if someone clicks through and uses the site you've linked to, you'll get a percentage of the sale the site makes! You can usually do this with just a text link as well, if you prefer.
Survey and task sites work by having you sign up, and then filling out surveys or do other similar tasks to earn points. Those points can then later be redeemed for IMVU credits (or as is the case for most sites, different games if you prefer).
As with everything else online, realize there's a slight risk with signing up and using these sites!
Give both methods a try and see which works best for you!
Banners, Links, and Referrals: Pros and Cons
Is making use of banner links and referrals the right way of earning IMVU credits for you?
- Pro: It's easy. Using banners, links, and referrals is probably the easiest way to get free IMVU credits. Simply copy and paste some code, or share a link with a friend to make use of this method.
- Pro: It's passive "income". Once set up, you don't need to do any work for banners to earn you credits. The exception to this of course is if you're sharing a referral link individually.
- Con: It (usually) doesn't earn much. Unless you have your banners and links on high trafficked (or just a lot of) pages, your earnings will probably be small, as the referral programs themselves don't usually offer a high percentage of the credits you earned by referring their stuff.
- Con: Using multiple referral programs can get messy. Not only do you have credits coming from different places, but chances are you'll be placing all these banners on the same pages. Too many banners or links will make your page look messy if you don't incorporate your banners into a nice layout.
Referral Banner and Link Sites
Display a link or banner on your web pages and earn free Credits!
- IMVUCE.com
- You can't get it any easier than with IMVUCE.com! Pick a banner from the previews provided, enter your IMVU avatar name, then get codes for use both on your web pages (including your IMVU homepage if you prefer) and forum posts. You earn 3% of whatever your referrals buy (and if you click your own referral ad and purchase credits, you'll get a 3% bonus for your own purchase!).
- Cassiopeian.co.uk
- Earn 2% of the amount of credits your referrals buy at Cassiopeian.co.uk. Sign up is easy (just enter your email and IMVU avatar name), but you will only get instructions (via email) on how to promote their site once your account is approved. Another plus is you can refer yourself if you'd like to get some extra credits with your purchase of credits from Cassiopeia. =)
- XKZExchange.com
- At XKZExchange.com you can earn 3% of your referral's purchase! Sign up is instant: just type in your IMVU avatar name, your email, and be presented with an option of codes that you can use!
- AnsheX.com
- At Anshex.com you can earn a cool 5% of whatever your referrals buy! Sign up is simple; you just need your email address and your IMVU name!
Added your banners? Sit back and relax!
Smart use of referral banners and links can provide many credits to you with almost no effort!
Survey and Task Sites: Pros and Cons
Are survey and task sites the right thing to help you get free credits on IMVU?
- Pro: Earn a lot of points. When you begin to utilize sites like these, your potential to earn a decent amount of IMVU credits is equivalent to the work you put in answering surveys and doing other tasks.
- Pro: You can use referrals, too! If you like the idea of using referral links (and sometimes banners), these sites often give you a nice boost in points for referring people to their site. Add the referral links wherever you can and supplement your earnings!
- Con: You have to work for it. In order to earn your credits on sites like these, you'll have to do a lot of tasks and surveys. While you can use referrals for sites like these, they don't always give you a nice code and banner to go along with it so you may have to work a bit harder to put them nicely onto pages if you don't know much about code.
- Con: Sometimes it just doesn't work. Some sites bar the tasks you can do--or even if you can join their site--depending on the country you live in. Even when you're eligible to complete their offers to earn IMVU credits for free, sometimes you won't get credit for the offer. This is why it's important to complete as many offers as you can!
List of Survey and Task Sites
With great effort comes great reward!
- IMVU.com
- What better place to start than straight on IMVU! A big benefit here is that you don't have to worry about converting any type of points to redeem your IMVU credits--any that you earn will show up straight away in your account as credits! IMVU offers a few different ways of earning credits, so check it out!
- PrizeRebel.com
- Prize Rebel is one of the most well-known and popular task-based sites out there. Not only can you get IMVU credits for free here, but all sorts of prizes, not just games! This site is easy to navigate and use; after signing up and signing in, just click "Get Points" to start earning towards some IMVU credits or whatever you desire!
- Swagbucks.com
- Swagbucks works a little differently than the other task sites, mainly because there's so many different ways to earn "swagbucks." For example, you can earn some simply by using Swagbucks' search engine! This site is definitely worth checking out especially if you're tired of how the other offer sites work. Please note that currently you can't earn IMVU gift cards directly: you can earn an Ultimate Game Card, which can in turn be used to purchase IMVU credits.
- Zehx.com
- Zehx.com is a newer task-based site out there that gives prizes not only for IMVU credits but for other games as well. After signing up, log in and click on "Zehx Offers" to start earning points that you can redeem for an IMVU gift card, or anything else you might like. I found this site has a lot of links which don't seem to do much, but it's worth checking out due to increasing popularity.
Joined some offer-based sites?
A combination of using referral links and task-based sites can prove twice as lucrative: let your banners earn you some credits as you complete tasks, potentially doubling your IMVU credit income!
What happened to metaRL.com? A Previous Popular Choice explained.
The site this page used to describe in detail no longer works =(
I can no longer say the same. Sometime towards the end of 2010, it seems the team at metaRL abandoned the site, or perhaps changed hands and the new team is doing nothing. I had requested a few things, sending emails as usual, but I didn't get my usual response. The site slowly lost many of the links it had for people to earn points (such as tasks), and after going back a few times to check on the site and looking at the now buried forum, it is clear that the site is dead.
I can no longer recommend metaRL as a legit, or even plausible way to earn IMVU credits or any other game currency I have a large supply of mP's (the points earned on metaRL) that I'd earned from referrals but my attempts at cashing out have been unsuccessful. The forums have a few people saying they bought mP's with money and then had their account shut down. I can't verify if this is true, but if so metaRL is now a scam.
Please explore the rest of this page for other places to earn IMVU credits! While I cannot confirm the legitimacy of these other sites, either, what I've read on them and seen on the sites themselves seems promising.
If ever there comes a time that metaRL returns to the awesome site it once was, I will of course update accordingly.
Earn some extra: Tips on getting referrals
It can only help you earn more IMVU credits!
If you want to show someone a direct link that includes your referral, check the code you're using to display your banner and look for a URL starting with "http://" You should notice your username or a set of numbers near the end of the URL; this tells you that this URL is your unique referral URL.
- E-mail or IM your friends who also play IMVU, letting them know about the referral link of your choice. They'll probably appreciate being given the chance to earn free credits or buy cheap ones!
- If you have your own website, put a link or banner linking to the sites you'd like to refer people to.
- If you have a blog, make a post about your experience earning free credits. Make sure you include your referral links!
- Where appropriate, use banners instead of ads. Pictures draw more attention than a simple text link--just don't over do it! Sometimes a text link will do just fine!
