Free Interior Design Software
Free interior design software falls into one of two classes - the completely free, or the commercial trial. For the completely free, there are two packages worth mentioning: Google Sketchup, and DesignWorkshop Lite. I've included links to these free interior design software packages at the bottom of this page, but before you rush off and download them, there are a couple of things you should keep in mind.
With Google Sketchup, bear in mind that it is primarily a 3D modeling tool, and it just happens a great library for use as free interior design software. There is also a commercial version of Google Sketchup available, called Google Sketchup Pro. Obviously, this is not a free interior design software package.
I have only heard and seen good things about DesignWorkshop Lite, which again, is a 3D modeling free interior design software package, and capable of creating spatial designs for almost any space.
Now onto the commercial trials, you should consider SmartDraw, which is a business graphics tool or Specsources. Both are excellent and highly functional interior design and general design packages which are suitable for most needs.
If you are in fact not looking for free interior design software, but something commercial in nature, consider Better Homes and Gardens Home Designer Suite, which has the simplest user interface and is generally very helpful for self-designers, or Punch! Professional's Home Design Suite, which whilst easily outclassing any other software in terms of functionality and capability, has a much steeper learning curve for the average user. I wish you the best with whatever free interior design software you use!
