Squidoo is by far the funnest place to write. The format on squidoo is very user freindly and easy to understand. Squidoo format makes it really easy and fun to create very creative and dynamic web pages called lenses.
Though I would have to say that the best part about squidoo is the Squidoo Community. The people on squidoo is what makes the site so wonderful. The squidoo community as a whole is very friendly, with lots of talented people working together to help each other succeed. This unique quality is something that I haven't found at other sites, where people seem more concerned with competition than actually helping each other.
I think this quality is what sets squidoo apart from other sites, and makes it a sort of "home base" site for so many creative people on the Internet.
Writing For Helium
Helium is one of my favorite sites for freelance writing.
There are a lot of really great opportunities for freelance writers on this site. I personally have sold quite a few articles to national publications, just because the editors of these publications scan through the helium.com articles searching for high quality articles that they need.
Helium also has a marketplace where outside publications advertise writing assignments that pay fairly well. There is also weekly and monthly writing contests where you can win prize money, and of course the regular helium site itself pays you just for submitting articles.
The key to helium, or any of the sites like this, is the more effort you put into your writing for that site, the more you will get out of it. For the freelance writer, sites like this can take you to that level, where you can actually make a decent living with your writing.
