Tidbit of the Week - 2/4/08

Tidbit

Having to deal with some nasty vertigo the past month, I've rediscovered the value of remote desktop. Being able to lay down but still work via my laptop has proven very valuable.

Here's something else I have yet to try - VGA to TV. I have tried it on our older television (now regulated to the living room as we purchased a flat panel for our room) and it worked. A caveat here though, if you are near anything that can interfere with the signal, your quality will be poor. In my case, our room is located next to the kitchen and right next to our door is the microwave. This caused some major interference every time it was used. And as I tried it out during the summer, well that microwave got a lot of use and I had a sign on my door asking people to let me know prior to usage. That being said, when there was no interference, it was fun having my computer screen show on my tv. Things were huge and, combined with my wireless pointer mouse (by Gyrotech I believe), I was able to look truly lazy while still being productive.

I wonder how it would look on a 40+ inch screen...

My Take On AuthenticJobs.com

Opinions are like...

Personally, I haven't grabbed a job off of this site as of yet. However, it seems to be one of the few that gets actual job offers and not spam. Most of the jobs listed are on-site rather than freelance opportunities. However, at least once a week I've seen one or two "can-work-at-home" employment listings.

My Take On oDesk

Lots of opinions are like...

Upfront: I've worked through and for oDesk over the past 2 and half years. That being said and having worked through a half a dozen other freelance sites, oDesk has my business for the long haul. They listen to their buyers and providers and update their site weekly. oDesk has my highest recommendation.
