Freelance Writing

Ranked #6,626 in Internet, #316,860 overall

Welcome to the Freelance Writing lens!

I have a BA in journalism and currently specialize in web content writing and press releases. I am available to write web content articles, ebooks, reports, product descriptions, press releases and more. I am also available for editing and proofreading projects.

My personal freelance site is located at The Writer Site.

If you're looking for PLR articles, I have several article packages at my PLR site- The PLR.

Hire Me For Your Web Content or PR Campaigns

That's right- I said to hire me!

Why should you hire me? Because I'm good. I'm not cheap, but I'm highly experienced and one of the best web writers you'll find. If you take a look at my feedback on Elance and RentACoder, located here, you'll see how well my clients speak about me. I have yet to have an unhappy client.

To hire me, you can contact me through my samples site, my blog or right here through this lens. I answer email seven days a week, so you'll never have to wait for an answer.

Not sure if you want to hire me for your web content or PR needs? Take a look through my many writing sample links located below. And if you need still more samples, just ask! I'd be happy to send along samples on just about any topic.

My Link List

These are my websites and pages where collections of my articles lie. I also have two blogs, both linked in below.
Waxing Moon Marketing
Waxing Moon Marketing is my full-service marketing company. Clients can get everything from a single SEO article to a full-scale PR campaign from my company.
PLR Articles
This is my PLR site, though it's still in its infant stages. I plan to put up more packages of PLR articles and to offer a few additional services as well.
Suite101 Articles
This is my collection of Suite101 articles. They are mainly about reading and writing, but I plan to branch out to several different areas as well. Suite101 is a fun site to write for, though they do have stringent requirements for all of their content.
The Writer's Journey
This is my personal blog. It's mainly about freelance writing, but occasionally it's about other topics. I try to touch on the different kinds of writing that I do, from press releases to web content articles to PLR articles to my book queries.
The PLR Blog
This is my newest blog- The PLR Blog. It's about my own PLR site and the changes it is undergoing. I eventually want to have the biggest and best PLR site on the Web. Who knows? Maybe it will happen!
My EditFast Profile Page
Editfast is a site where clients can quickly find an editor for their editing projects. This is my profile page where potential clients can choose me for editing jobs if they are so inclined.
BellaOnline Classic Rock
I am BellaOnline's Classic Rock editor. The site allows me creative freedom in the topics that I choose and the direction that I take the site.

Interested in Freelance Writing?

The information below is for those interested in getting into freelance writing. Beginning freelance writers often have no idea where to start and end up drifting aimlessly before giving up.

If you're serious about a career in freelance writing, start by reading as many books as possible about the field in general, SEO tactics and the business of writing. If you want to try book and magazine markets, also study The Writer's Market and similar titles. If you've never written professionally before and/or don't have a degree in the field, you'll also need to study the proper way to construct different types of writing.

Reading About Writing

Is it necessary? Yes!

If you're going to write well, you'd better hit the books. Knowing the basics of grammar and punctuation takes a lot more than just knowing what "sounds right." Yes, I've had more than one person tell me that they could be a reporter or an editor because they have a good ear for what sounds right. Wrong. Writing is a business, and you need to be well prepared to face its challenges before beginning.

A book certainly can't tell you how to be creative, but it can tell you what to do with that creativity. Get to know what kind of style is best for your writing and how to express emotion, or detachment, in your writing by studying the craft.

Excellent books on writing

Here are a few of the must-have books for anyone trying to get by as a freelance writer. All of them have very specific appeal, but put them together and they make a mighty resource library for writers.

Freelance Bidding Sites

I am active on two of the best bidding sites for freelance writers

Elance is currently the most popular of them all. They have thousands of projects in every writing genre imaginable.

RentACoder is run much differently from Elance. There are no membership fees, but there are fewer writing projects available. Good projects can be found, but you have to do some digging. If you'd like to set up a project for me, just let me know.

Here is a complete run down of the best freelance bidding sites on the Web:

Finding the Best SEO Keywords

If you're doing SEO writing, you need to know your keywords. There are a few keyword tracking sites that supply the best keywords that are currently being searched right now. the best of those is said to be WordTracker. There's a free
version here. The paid version has some extra bells and whistles for the serious SEO writer. Here is a list of their current specials.

Writing Blog Links

These are some of my favorite writing blogs. They give practical advice that isn't dumbed down like some of the larger blogs. A freelance writer can use these on a daily basis for freelancing tips as well as leads on freelance writing jobs.
Web Writing Info
Always full of practical information, this blog was voted one of the top 10 writing blogs for 2007.
Journalism Jobs
This is one of the most interesting job sites, with in-depth articles about journalism and media outlets as well as an enormous listing of jobs in the journalism field.
Bob Bly's Blog
If you've ever read a book by Robert Bly, you'll love his blog. He has the same voice here as in his books, and the information is just as interesting.
Writer's Resource Center
Writer's Resource Center has information about many different types of writing, such as essays, poetry and book writing.
Freelance Writing Jobs
This site is updated every day with new freelance writing jobs. The pay for these jobs falls into the mid range, and a lot of them are from Craigslist, but there are some gems in there to be found.
Drawing on Words
This one isn't updated as many as some, but it's a top-notch blog full of practical advice.
