Mustache Hat Crochet Pattern

Free Bearded Beanie Pattern

This is a my free bearded beanie Pattern that was conceived from a custom creation for a client on Etsy.com.

This is a Creative Commons (c) pattern so you are welcome to use it however you please and even alter it!

This hat is inspired by the hat found on DoodyBrain's Blog. I had never seen this hat before and I took on the challenge.

This is not my original idea although the pattern is mine. I got the idea for this hat from Scandinavian Grace.

I entered it into an instructables contest in 2008 and it won 2nd place. I received a Vintage Pattern book from Lion Brand Yarns as a prize. :)

So funny, must make this for my daughter - she's wanted a beard since she was 2, was so disappointed when I told her girls don't usually grow them.
  • MomwithAHook May 29, 2011 @ 5:48 pm | delete
Alright! I'd love to see a pic of her in her beard - now, why can't girls have beards?
  • Senora_M Jan 24, 2011 @ 10:09 am | delete

Crochet Beard by chicken stitches
I am pleased to announce a new craft breakthrough! Now any one can have a beard. Yes, it is ridiculously easy, all you have to do is to crochet it, or get your friend to do it for you. No more age or gender bias.
the Bearded Toque
The bearded toque was inspired by (but not meant to replicate) the Bearded Cap by Vik Prjónsdóttir. This version is knit all in one piece, top down, with interchangeable mustaches, in one or two colours. I originally developed it as a commission but after a lot of interest I figured I'd self-publish the pattern PDF for anyone else interested. It is a very quickly written pattern so follow your instincts.

You could try adding more detail work to make it more Cthulhu-y. My friend suggested horns and I thought maybe black detailing around the eyes. *ravelry pattern (needs to register to download)

I love these types of patterns! I am very impressed with the huge variety of resources you have provided here! I would love to make one, but unfortunately my crochet skills are not quite up to par (being almost nonexistant!)

I'm sure you could pull off a knit version. I have very little knitting skills but maybe you can try Ravelry and see if someone has something on there.
