Free Peppermint Pouch Crochet Pattern

This mini purse is meant to be filled with peppermints and hung on the tree. Scroll down for more photos.

Materials:
Small amounts worsted weight yarn in red and white
Size H crochet hook

Size: 2 1/2" in diameter w/o handle

Note: Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Purse Sides (make 2)
Rnd 1: With red, ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join w sl st in top of ch 3 (12 dc).

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same dc, 2 dc in next dc and in each dc around, join as before, fasten off (24 dc).

Peppermint Candy Applique (make 1)
With white, ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, ch 1, 8 sc in ring, join w sl st in 1st sc, fasten off (8 sc).

Finishing

With 18" length of red yarn, sew peppermint candy applique to right side of one purse side using overcast stitches as shown.

With 18" length of red yarn, hold wrong sides of purse sides together and sew together through back loops only, leaving about 7 sts free for pouch opening.

Handle
With red, ch 25, fasten off. Sew handle to purse sides as shown.
