Free Pilgrim Hat Pincushion Crochet Pattern

Materials
1/2 oz black worsted weight yarn
Small amount brown worsted weight yarn
Size H crochet hook
Fiberfill for stuffing
Scrap of gold felt

Size: 3" tall
Gauge: 2 rounds of dc=1"

Note: Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Top of Hat
Rnd 1: With black, ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, ch 2, 11 hdc in ring, join w sl st in top of ch 2 (12 hdc).
Rnd 2: (Work this round in back loops only!) Ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in last 2 dc, join w sl st in top of ch 3 (14 dc).
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in last 4 dc, join as before (16 dc).
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in last dc, join as before (19 dc).
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in last 4 dc, join as before, fasten off (22 dc).
Rnd 6: Join brown w sl st in 1st dc of Rnd 5, ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in last 2 dc, join as before, fasten off (26 dc).
Rnd 7: (Work this round in front loops only!) Join black w sl st in 1st dc of Rnd 6, ch 3, dc in same dc, 2 dc in next dc and in each dc around, join as before, fasten off (52 dc).
Bottom of Hat
Rnd 1: Join black w sl st in free back loops between Rnds 6 and 7, ch 3, dc in each loop around, join as before (26 dc).
Stuff hat with fiberfill.
Rnd 2: Work dc dec over 1st 2 dc, *dc dec over next 2 dc, rep from * around, join as before, fasten off, leaving a 12" length of yarn for sewing (13 dc).
Weave 12" length of yarn around tops of Rnd 2 hat bottom, pull to close hole, secure, fasten off.
Buckle
Cut a 1" square of gold felt. Fold in half to cut a square out of the middle. Open up. Glue buckle to the front of Rnd 6. Let dry.
