Sell Online at Blujay with a totally free store without any hidden fees or costs. No listing, store, subscription or final value fees when an item sells. Blujay is very user friendly and a viable, great ebay alternative. I am also including tips that I personally use for a more successful blujay storefront. Don't be fooled by sites that aren't totally free with high FV fees, etc. Blujay has been around since 2005 and isn't one of those new sites that pop up and then close shortly thereafter. Don't delay, start your own Blujay store today.

I recommend Blujay.com as one of the premier places to have a totally free online store. That's right, No listing, store, subscription or final value fees when an item sells. Many individuals have tried online selling in an auction or fixed price format. The majority have experienced mixed results and tried various sites looking for the right one that brings consistent sales and is easy to use. The majority of sites charge monthly store fees, photo fees, and fv (final value fees) so that by the time you sell an item, you may have spent a few dollars or more to sell on their site. Ebay is the one of the biggest offenders and has lately developed the nicknames of Feebay and Greedbay, etc for such reasons. I discovered a site for those who want to manage an online store that is totally free and easy to use. There are no hidden costs, fees, or catches. This free website is called Blujay.

I have run ebay stores and auctions in the past and the rising fees and nonseller friendly changes made me rethink about what I was doing, there had to be a better place for selling online. I had heard about Blujay on Ebay discussion boards so I finally decided to check it out. I also checked out a cool site where a lot of former ebay sellers go to discuss alternative ebay sites, powersellersunite, and read what they had to say about blujay and other sites. After viewing other sites and much deliberation, I decided to give Blujay a shot in February 2008. Be aware that there are many fly by night sites set up all the time and may just be there to scam your personal info or collect a onetime user fee and shortly thereafter close shop and you are out your money. Be assured that Blujay isn't one of those sites and was created in 2005 as I'll state in more detail.

First, I was thinking how can a site be totally free, how can it make any money? Well, the site has been around since 2005 and makes money with a few ads to run the site. I did some more checking around and set up a store with a few items, video games. Generally, video games are the only things I ever sell. I feel you should sell things you enjoy and have knowledge of so I listed about 30 items. When you sign up for blujay your username will be your blujay url that is picked up on the web, so bear this in mind. Wow, I can not only accept Paypal but Google Checkout as well, that was pretty cool. You can have 4 photos for a listing, and can use HTML and is submitted to Google and have RSS feed. You can have a fixed store price or a best offer option.

Anyways, I sat back and expected some sales to start rolling in. I started to check the discussion board there because after a week or two I hadn't had any sales. I then found out the people that were selling items kept talking about promoting your store and list and list. I read a few of the threads about promoting and started a myspace page, a top 100 site, my 1st squidoo lens, submitted to search engines, and listed about another 70 items so I had about 100 video games and accessories in my blujay store now. Within 2 weeks of doing this, the sales started to come in. The sales are continuing and I am sold on this site now. What is even more amazing is that all but two of my sales have been from nonregistered blujay users and my google checkout sales outnumber my Paypal sales 2 to 1 with lower fees. I started this lens because I deeply feel blujay is a great place with wonderful people in the forums if you need help. The site is growing and if you bear in mind that you have nothing to lose to list totally free, and make an effort of some type of promoting your store, you should make regular sales. Most alternative sites to Ebay do not spend millions of dollars a year on advertising so you can't expect those types of sales without any effort at all.

I also am going to show a list of other blujay store sellers so check out blujay and see for yourself, visit the board there, and of course I'd like you to visit my store:) No, I am not paid to say this by Blujay and have no affiliation with the management/owners there. I'm just a regular Joe, actually my name is Howard who is trying to spread the word about a great place to sell totally free. Fellow blujayers, there's a spot below to add your store url. Right now, around 65 blujay members have added their stores to my list, there's room for more though, so please take the time to do this. If you no longer have a blujay store for any reason, please contact me so I can take your store off the list.

Update March 17th 2009: Have had a large increase in sales from Dec 1, 2008 to now. Paypal sales are starting to catch up to Google Checkout sales. Still loving blujay.

Some Hints for a more successful Blujay Store

Through some research and experiences, of my own and fellow blujayers, I have compiled ways to get your blujay store more sales.

Remember when you sign up for your store that your username will be your store name so choose something that could reflect what you sell. You can have as many stores as you like so you can sell certain items in various stores if you desire. When you fill in the about ME PAGE, use the first few lines to use keywords/what you sell. This is picked up by search engine spiders and save the personal information for later on in the paragraph. Make sure your item titles are spelled correctly and are descriptive without a lot of punctuation so that those searching the web can find your item. Make sure you fill out your Sales Policy and I find that accepting Google Checkout, Paypal, and USPS money orders offer easy and secure payment choices.

Since all free sites don't have the advertising to bring sellers in like Amazon and Ebay you should promote your store to pick up extra traffic/sales. I suggest at the bare minimum starting a Squidoo lens about your store, and either joining a few google and/or yahoo selling groups, etc to help bring in consistent sales. You get out of a site what you put into it. There are numerous other promoting techniques such as Kaboodle, My Space, etc but I am trying to keep it simple.

You should always submit your store and all promoting urls to the search engines. Then resubmit at least 2-3 times a year. This is self explanatory since you don't want your pages to be considered outdated. Don't submit to often or it can cause you to be ignored by search engines for spamming, etc. You can submit directly to Google, Yahoo, and MSN but there are other sites that submit your urls to various engines and I use a free one called submitexpress dot com.

Check into the blujay forums and don't be afraid to ask questions and read about how those that are successful are making regular sales. This helped me out immensely and now I am trying to give back to others. You can also email former buyers and let them know about your new home. Blujay allows link and HTML. Blujay has a very simple listing format and is done using only 1 page.

If anyone has any questions about blujay and/or thinking about starting a store there, I encourage you to visit Blujay and explore the site. You have nothing to lose at a totally free site and if you have questions, you can ask them on the boards there and will find an answer from the helpful community there.

For all BIDVILLE SELLERS and those from other now defunct sites

Bidville ceased operations in mid 2008, Check out Blujay it may be the site you want

Bidvillers are entering on the Blujay boards and some have had years on that site but closed in June 2008. They put a lot of hard work and effort into their stores, auctions, promoting, and now they have to seek a new home. I personally will offer any help for those having questions about setting up shop at Blujay and if I don't know the answer, someone around the forums will. We are the friendliest bunch on the net, I guarantee it. There are also other sites that are fly by night operations and close shortly after they open, Blujay has been around since 2005 and still going strong. Currently Blujay has over 540,000 different items listed, when I started in Feb 2008 was a little over 300,000 so it is growing rapidly. Blujay is currently the 2nd largest totally free store site on the web. From the research I've gathered, Blujay has a higher sell ratio than other sites with more repeat buyers than at many other sites. You have nothing to lose to start a storefront yourself and keep adding to those numbers.

Will help blujayers with their store and squidoo.

Excited to see that many blujay store owners have added their site and if you have any problems on adding your site, contact me and I'll add it manually. If you're a blujayer and need help on setting up a squidoo lens, I'm available to help with that as well. The more we get Blujay out there on the web and promote it, the increased traffic will help us all out. I am willing to help blujayers only at this time if they have questions about a Blujay store and/or want to start a Squidoo lens to promote blujay and their store.

Blujay has went downhill in the last 4 months. Primarily with limited or intermittent google exposure. Very informative lens though Howard.

Useful information. I have sold a few things on blujay.com/robchirp by having ebay customers go to the site for some of my items. I just need to figure out how to promote on the web better I guess.
Thanks for the info. Good job.
