The premise of a government plan competing with private insurance is a farce. The idea is to put the private insurance out of business, and before you know it, there is NOTHING except the government plan. Obama lied throughout the campaign - "If you are insured, you can keep your plan."

Socialized medicine has been tried over and over, and has always failed.

Recently, the panel that decides who gets treated in England, decided that women with late stage breast cancer could not have the drugs they need because it is too expensive. If you are old (and that will be an arbitrary number), no transplants, implants, cataract, heart surgery for you. You may not be old now, but you will be much sooner than you know. The Stimulus Bill that was passed in February without anyone reading it - remember that there was NOT time for that - created such a panel for the good old USA.
