Fast and Affordable

This is probably THE cheapest way of feeding your family you will ever find! Not to mention the fastest!!

I started freezer cooking around three years ago. I actually started my own small freezer cooking business then. It worked out really well because I could work my own hours, however I became married shortly after. I also had babies, and decided that it was just to much at the time. My husband and my children became my priority.
I still do it for my family, but I no longer sell the meals. (Although I made very good money doing it!) I find that it actually allows me more time with my family, because I don't have to worry about preparing meals every day of the week! If we are busy I just de-thaw a meal, heat it up, and I'm done!

Alright, What's This Freezer Cooking Thing About?

Freezer cooking...hm...sounds like I am cooking in my freezer huh! Well that is completely not the case. Freezer cooking is when you freeze meals.
This is how it's done:
Let's say you just made a big pot of chili and after eating supper you have lots of left overs. Well instead of sticking those in the fridge and hoping that you will eat them before they go bad, why not freeze them until you want chili again? That's what I do! I can make one pot of chili and have 2 lunches and 4 suppers!

You do have to be careful because you can't freeze everything.
Here is a list of the things I wouldn't freeze
a lot of cooked hamburger (Unless it's in the chili)
bread that is with something wet...it will make the bread soggy. You can freeze bread just don't freeze it with any water like substances

Basically if when you thaw it out it will be soggy or gross don't freeze it. In a lot of my recipes I let you know whether or not you could freeze it. You can find those by clicking here!

You can make soup, casserole's, meat loaf, and so much more! The great thing about it is it doesn't cost much more or take much more effort than if you were only preparing one meal! It's cheaper to prepare a bigger portion of one meal than to prepare the same meal twice! As I said before the chili I made probably cost me around $10 and out of the $10 I got 2 lunches and 4 suppers to feed my family of 4! That's $1.67 per meal! You can't really beat that!

Some of the meals that work really well are:
Chicken Tortilla Soup

Tater-Tot-Casserole
*if you are going to freeze this meal you should prepare the casserole, but do not freeze with the tater tots on top. You should not cook the tater-tots before you freeze them.

Spanish Meatballs

The other great thing about freezer cooking is the fact that it doesn't take up a lot of room in your freezer! The meals lay flat and you can stack them on top of one another! I recommend using Ziplock (brand) Freezer Bags. They are the only ones, in my opinion, that won't spill anything. They also won't bust open in the freezer, and they don't let your food get freezer burnt!
Once you have finished preparing your meal you just grab a Ziplock bag and put a portion of the meal into one bag, label and date it, push all the air out and freeze it! You should always date and label your food. Freezer meals are typically good for 3 months after being prepared and frozen!
