I love all kinds of music, so it's no wonder that when I started exploring French songs, I got into French Rock, Pop, Folk, R&B, Jazz and traditional chanson/cabaret music. I'm a music snob, which means I don't have the patience for mediocre music -- in any language. I concentrated on finding the very best French music for my collection, and now I'm sharing my discoveries with you.

I don't claim to understand every word of these songs, but since I began taking French classes, I've been able to catch enough lines here and there to know what a song is about or to sing along with the chorus. I might even try transcribing the lyrics to train my ear. French is difficult to decipher by ear, so I wouldn't recommend trying to learn the French language from scratch through French music. But regardless of your level of interest in the language, there's a world of great French music to enjoy and I'd encourage you to check it out.
