Of course, French press is a coffee maker, but in reality, many folks also uses it to make press tea and it is pretty good as well. Whether it is coffee or tea, folks that uses french press would tell you that this is one of the easiest solution aorund for brewing their favorite hot beverage.

How Do You Use A French Press?

This is just to show everyone and anyone how easy it is to use a french press, so easy, I was not reading any instruction manuals while writing this!:)

1. Choose the type of coffee

Haha, this is a no-brainer, but if I do not insert these words in, my content would be so lean! But on a serious note, there are certain coffees that brews better with a french press, for example a full city roast.

The roast aside, the grind is very important and one has to take note that if you are grinding or buying, that you have to get the coares grind so that the french press can seperate the grounds from the coffee when you press.

2. The measurement

This is a often asked question, be it french press of any other coffee makers, how much coffee grounds does one need to use?

The rule of thumb is one level teaspoon of coffee grounds to 6 ounces of hot water.

Hey folks, here is a tip to using french press, do not pour boiling water into the french press. Boiling water would burn your coffee grounds and produce a bitter taste. Allow the water to cool for at least 2 minutes, let the temperature drop till 95 degrees celsius beofre pouring into the french press.

3. The press

This is a simple but most important step -the pressing. How you do it, determines how your coffee would taste like. The not so good reviews about french press are usually reported by the impatient folks.

By impatient, I mean they press it immediately when the water is added into the french press, that is not correct. You need to allow the coffee ground to steep.

By steeping, the coffee ground must not be press for at least 3 minutes. Try it, and see the differences in the coffee taste profile!

4. Enjoy the coffee

Of course, after all these "steps", the last thing is to drink your coffee. You should wait till 3 minutes, press the coffee, then pour and enjoy the coffee.

French press coffee has a robust and intense taste, those that like strong coffee, should love the french press!
