Want to learn French?
I'm a French student and I'm learning that the best way to practice French is to read it, for example in a book or magazine. But, as I looked for good books, I found it hard to find any. So that's why I created this page, to keep all good books in the French language in one handy place so anyone can find them. Enjoy!

In the Beginning
When you're first learning French, the best thing to read is children's books that you know fairly well. That may sound kiddy, but you would probably have about the same vocab as a 3-year-old native speaker and the pictures help understand the words. (Plus, they're fun to read.)

After learning how to read picture books, its better to read a book that you're familiar with, but don't know word for word. My favorite is the Harry Potter books (which I have read several times). I know what happens, but I don't know them word for word, so it still tests my comprehension. Below are some popular books that many people have read in English, such as Harry Potter and the Da Vinci Code. Now, try to read them in French. :-D

And Now You've Mastered That...
Now that you can read familiar books in French, try to read an unfamiliar book. It tests your comprehension to the next level, and, if you can read one cover to cover, you know you're pretty proficient at the French language. Good luck!

And Don't Forget
No matter how good you are, you might need a dictionary to help you with those tough words. I would recommend always having a French-English dictionary close by, but not to look at it the second you see a word you don't know. Try figuring it out using context clues, it helps you remember the word better.
