Fresh Squid Graduation Class September 2008

Ranked #21,436 in Culture & Society, #432,826 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund

First Graduation Class on Squidoo EVER!

Fresh Squid Headquarters was created on September, 15th 2008 and in it's first 15 days it featured 51 lenses by 51 Fresh Squids!

Each of these newcomers to Squidoo had to comply to certain rules that were listed both on group's page and on Fresh Squid FAQ! These rules were meant to help them and all other newbies to learn how to create quality lenses and become part of Squidoo community.

They learned hard and they GRADUATED!

Can a Newbie Lens Become LENS OF THE DAY???

I know many necomers to Squidoo ask themselves this question...

And the answer is: YES! If your lens is unique, passionate and completed.... IT CAN BECOME LENS OF THE DAY!

Just to prove it, take a look at two lenses I featured here... They are both made by Fresh Squids!

CCGAL had LoTD only 15 days after joining Squidoo and Ges for his 1st and only lens 20 days after signing in with Squidoo!

SO, KEEP WORKING HARD AND YOU MAY ALSO SEE YOUR LENS FEATURED AS LENS OF THE DAY!

Squidoo is fabulous! I am enjoying finding, exploring & reading wonderful lens. What a bunch of nice creative people. Nice to meet you all! Creating some lens and maybe earning something for charity and me is an added bonus!! (Wow! This is like a survey)!

Not as much money as I thought but easily made up for by the fun I've had doing it and all the lovely and kind people that make up the Squidoo community. Now I just have to work out how to monetize lenses without writing about boring stuff.

I didn't envisage I'd read many other lenses but it's quite addictive learning about other people's passions :)

Squidoo has been more than I thought possible. It exceeded all of my expectations, as does the community on a daily basis.

The hardest part was admitting I made some mistakes and asking for help. Grr! LOL! "I am a squidoo addict and I have officially checked myself into the squidoo forum".

It's so simple - nothing is particularly difficult. Probably the hardest thing is to leave the completed lens alone!

The hardest part is generating traffic without going overboard in terms of time spent in Squidoo.

Well, Squidoo as a whole was amazingly easy for me to get started with, which is one reason it was so much FUN. The more high quality lenses I look at, however, the more I find myself wanting to improve mine, so I think not being so critical of myself is the hardest thing for me, personally.

Find a theme that you are interested in and explore it by creating lenses on the subject. Be prepared for it to take over your life!

Before you publish your lens, go through it carefully and check titles, check the order of your modules, make sure you have enough visual interest, and enough original content. Make sure your content button is on. Make sure you have a bio.

Then hold your breath and push the publish button. Exhale. And start a new lens!

Only build lenses about things that you are actually interested in! I got the idea to build a lens on each of the 10 hardwoods my husband uses in his cutting boards - and I have 2 left I am having a hard time finishing because I'm not really a wood-worker, and I'm not all that interested in hardwoods. So finishing those is not as much fun as some of the other things I want to do.

The other thing is don't give up, because we all learn and grow at different rates, and participate in as many of the Squidoo activities as you have time for. The most wonderful thing about Squidoo is the people - there are more loving and caring lensmasters in Squidoo than I have ever encountered in any group or forum in my entire life.
